Thule makes one for the rest of the known world, not that it'll do you any good as you can't get it in the states for some reason or other.

Id recommend the MB racks. I believe its made by Oris. Its the one i use for my bikes and i love it. When i was shopping around I looked into a few different ones such as Thule and Yakima, but i preferred these since they are specifically made for our cars. Back then they were all pretty close in price, but i hear you can get the MB ones for pretty cheap now..

I believe that both OEM and Thule racks mount in the same manner. There are indents in the door frames showing where to locate the load bars.

I like the options that you can get with the Thule racks. I was shopping a while back and a lot of vendors were offering sales on Yakima racks though. I believe there was 20% off and it's still going.

Dunno about that. While every application is different, we had a Thule rack on our old M5 for 16 years and never had any damage. The wife's Audi has had one on for 6 years now and no problem either. You have to be sure that the uprights are securely tightened or you can get movement which can damage paint, but that's true for Yakima or any other rack.

Bikes stay in place up to 120 mph too.

come on no one has a picture of their c-class with a roof rack on it? i've been dying to know what mine will look like with in the next couple of weeks.

I'm going to run YAKIMA and if you need any help and have a c230k shoot me a message and I will cover an in depth install on the one i do on my car. searching for used Qclips of the right number as buying new is about as smart my great dane (not a real bright dog lol).

Hope I can help.

G

went to the top and saw you were in the 4 door c series so here is what you need from yakima. really the essentials are the Q-Towers, the Q-Clips, Crossbars and then what ever you want mounted to them. I personally like fork mounts for my bikes and the Copperhead works GREAT a lot of people will tell you it wont work with disc brakes or that it will only work with mechanical discs but that is a lie and are just trying to sell you a more expensive product that is not needed. If you want proof I have copperheads on my forester and my mtn bike has hydrolic discs and my wifes mtn bike has mech. discs and would be more than happy to get a picture of the clearance for you.

anyway here is the screenshot from YAKIMA's site

P.S. check your local craigslist for as many of the parts as you can find 2nd hand...these don't brake unless they are abused, I have had mine for over 5 years and all i need is new clips, new bar plugs and new A Pads (the piece that goes between your car and the rack to protect your car. Get the NEW ones the old ones leave a real sticky residue that is a ***** to get off of your car when the august sun cooks them all day)

THULE and YAKIMA both make very very good products, for me it simply comes down to who has the strong hold in my area (here in southern indiana it happens to be yakima) but thule and yakima both make lots of items that will fit the others set up so don't be affraid of going with either because you dont think you will be able to find trays to fit the crossbars.

hey no problem at all, does your MB have a sunroof/pana roof? if so you will want to run the fairing as with either brand the wind crossing the bars will create a pulsing type of annoying noise that the fairing will stop.

I'll also keep my eyes open for some used Q99 clips since that what your car will be running (figuring of course you're leaning towards the Yakima set up) and i'll let you know if i see anything.

pics will be up soon hopefully some of the clips are hard to find 2nd hand.

ees,

this setup will fit your MB...i would keep an eye on it as that is dirt cheap right now for the bars, the towers, the clips AND the SKS locks. Buying new you would be looking at over $500.

just saw it while looking around.

Yamika or MB for 2005+

FWIW: Thule USA makes a fit kit for the pre-facelifted W203; they do not have a fit kit for a facelifted W203. According to their info the MY2005+ got a new greenhouse and the old fit kit does not work. Thule Europe however lists no such problems, but you can't get the Europe fit kit or load bars in the US.

I spent three hours at their main office in CT while they tried to create a kit for my facelifted W203.

So depending on your year, I would recommend the MB or Yamika one's.

Just my two cents and experience.

If you haven't done so already, check out this thread. Lots of good info and pics:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ki-mounts.html

here's a pic with my bike attached. These are the MB racks. The parts that touch the paint are rubber.. takes about 15 mins to take on and off.

Let me know if you want to see close up pics, i can take some tomorrow, i might be putting them on if it doesnt rain.
