i was at the dealership monday and never used fuel injector... but they told me that mine need cleaning so i picked up some chevron yesterday. my family uses it in their mercs and claim that it improves gas mileage. my mpg has been dropping the past few months, and i'm hoping this will help remedy.

Has been discussed before. Read the owners manual and it will state that running fuel additives to clean the fuel system ever so often is a must.

Techron concentrate is highly recommended.

Will it ruin your smooth v6 if you dont? No.
Over time will you lose power and mpg, get faulty fuel gauges, experience preignition, and carbon build up in combustion chambers/valves? Absolutely.

Remember, owning a MB, preventative maintainence is always key.

maybe do it once a yr. All the top tier gas brands...ie major gas brands already have detergents in the gas to break down carbon deposits.

Here's of list of companies that put detergents in there gas to break down carbon deposits.

i'm pretty sure the back of the bottle recommends to add it to your gas ever 1,000 miles. i'm not sure if that's overkill though. could it be harmful to do it this often?

A bottle of Techron concentrate in the tank once or twice a year is more than enough if you use good gas. More can't do harm but is wasting your hard earned bucks.

i doubt you need it every 1000 miles since your putting in fuel injector cleaner every time you fill up at the gas station, if your using the gas on the top tier list.

The bottle of techron you buy the store is just more concentrated version.
