Slight "grinding" Sound coming from wheels.

Slight "grinding" Sound coming from wheels.
Im having yet another issue. When Im driving and i begin to slow down and coast a little, I can hear a noise similar to a electric saw coming from the wheel area. I dont know what it is. Its a slight grinding sound if that helps a little more.
It only happens a low speeds though when Im approaching stop signs.
Any ideas on what this sound could be.

If it's just in the rear, it could be your parking brake mechanism is blown. This happened to me after using wheel bolts that were too long

Had this exact thing in my c230 two months back. Swapped out the rotors and pads with new ones, ran like new again.
But if you're short on money, you could always use brake cleaner on your pads and rotors, and that may do some good too.

no.. at least change the pads first... had been going low thickness pads and rotors = stopping like ****....

Last time i heard that noise, i was dropping the Diff on the ground, opening it up and found a party of syncros inside... lol. Pretty sure that's not the case here as you say it comes from the front wheels. Start with the pads and rotors, it could also mean you need new bearings. Good Luck.

Yeah Its coming from the front. Ill do the pad and rotor change. Im short on cash but id rather just get it out of the way before the problem gets worse.

grinding...I have herd my breaks grind when a bad had a chunk break loose so it was grabbing funny/incorrect, and the pads where low. I dont know since I havent taken the brakes off my car but, it may be the brake warning noise thing or your pads basically grinding because there now bad?

I hear the sound usually when Im passing a parked car in a neighborhood or something.
EDIT: I just took it for a drive around the neigborhood. Like I stated before, I can only hear it a low speeds. I hear the sound as I apply the brakes and when Im driving at lower speeds. Im sure its happening when Im driving at higher speeds. Im going to check and see how much I can get the rotors and breaks changed for to see if that fixes the problem.

Well if its doing it only at low speed where it loud enough to be herd finally, you may have a sticky caliper that's not fully retracting back when you let off the brakes, and hence rubbing and making noise. Just had this problem on my buddys BMW, and replaced his caliper, and boom, problem solved.

do you get any vibration on the highway or while stopping? Thats how we figured out my buddys BMW was messed, the rotor heated up and would warp with heat and the whole car would wobble and shake at high speed because of the light friction the caliper was putting on the rotor. The car also chugged to a stop because of the rotor only catching the caliper in one spot after it warped.

No vibration at any speeds high nor low. One thing that I did notice is that when the car gets between 5-10 mph is chugging a little the feeling similar to when you are about to run out of gas. The car is jumpy at the speeds i mentioned above. Over all the car rides like new but between that 5-10 mph mark it feels jumpy. The griding only appears at low speeds then when i get to a certain speed it goes away..

Sorry to bump this thread. Got the same kind of noise. But my read tyres need to be replaced. Not so much grinding, more like a whooshing noise. Can hear it when my windows are open and I roll at low speeds. I speed up, I read it going faster until wheels spin so fast I cant hear it.
My rear tyres need replacing (booked in for this week) and I was informed my breaks were replaced when I bought the car a fortnight ago.

I have a similar noise. If I cut the radio off. Around 30 mph nd up nd higher I hear a noise from the back when I dnt give it gas. But durin acceleration it goes away. maybe bearings or differential

I believe I have this same noise as well on my drivers side front. It is very compariable to like when we were kids and we would put cards in our spokes (but not as loud). I have 19"s on my car and didnt notice the noise till just recently after I swapped out my OEM rotors with cross drilled/ slotted and replaced the pads.. Its weird cuz I did all four rotors and pads but the sound is coming from the drivers side front only. It def gets louder when I am doing above 40 and apply the brakes. Its does sound like something isnt retracting all the way. The car brakes just fine.

Bloody Continental tyres!!! Chucked mine off at 15,000Km due to noise & vibration.
For future reference. Michelin PS2 & Exalto PE2 are known quiet tyres on this Chassis. They are all I will use.
Do not use directional tyres. Change rolling direction of tyres every 10,000Km by rotating. Corner to corner with standard wheels. Across the same axle with staggered.
