I totaled my C230.

Ok It wasnt my fault. I was sitting still at a red light when a oil tanker hit me from behind doing 45. except for a stressed ligament and some pulled muscles i'm ok. The car held up great but its trashed. as a result of getting hit i was pushed into the car in front of me messing up the front pretty bad. So the question is what should my next car be? I have roughly 40K to deal with .

An oil tanker hit me from Behind doing 45 . Its totaled.

A C43 was the w202 body style AMG, equivalent to the C32

Don't waste your $40k on an M3 (z3), the engine is awesome but the build quality is not great. I picked a C230 on the poll only because you didn't have a Boxter as an option, or an old 911.

Why can you buy a car at 18 but not use a rental till 25? I know we have a couple lawyers here on the board, what are my options?

Timmy,

First, didn't you help some girl total her car 2 days ago? Please stay away from me when you're driving

Anyways, I was able to purchase my CLK because I was rearended by an uninsured motorist (which I have coverage for). There are a variety of different things that your insurance company will consider when determining what to pay you, but it takes time. You have to first finish all of your medical treatment. Chiropracters are nice, but Physical Therapists are much better. You'll need a referal from your doctor in order to see one. The way your auto insurance will cover your medical fees is that they will cover everything that your medical insurance does not (including copays). Even if your back isn't too messed up right now, take it from someone who has gone through this twice. Go to physical therapy (massages rock!), and learn what preventive excercises you are going to need to keep your back from becoming a life-long problem. I've got plenty of information regarding this whole process up to the final payout $$ Feel free to email me with any questions you have. But seriously, the money is nice, the money is great, but the back problems that I have and you may experience are not worth it. Get fixed up first, then get the CLK.

sorry to hear that.

Do you have any pictures of the wreck? I would like to see how's the passenger cabin held up against the crash.

thanks.

Two words:

sponge bath. Enjoy!

As far as your poll, I had to pick another c230, because I think that all of the other options on there are overpriced. Now, if you had included the s2000 or tt convertible or Vigen convertible, my answer would have been different.

If you do get a c230, don't forget to pony up the add'l $ for the c7 option. I don't think that I'll be able to part with my c7 rims - a set of staggered 18" brabus VI rims is $3600, and I don't think that I want to spend that much on that right now.

Good luck, whatever you do.

My 2 cents...

My best argument for getting another c230 must be the fact that you feel fairly ok, even though you have been, in what to me, sound like a pretty serious accident. You can't get better reviews of a cars safety, than real-life testing, and you have now been withness to one accident and involved in one yourself, and according to you, in none of these two accidents the drivers was seriously hurted.

But as I said earlier, just my two...

Sorry to hear about the accident...glad you're OK.....look on the bright side.....you can get a wonderful settlement, buy a new C230 (why not just go straight for the M3 or C32?), along with a house too !!!!!

I believe the CLK will be all new for 2003 or 2004 so I wouldn't get one of those now!!! Maybe order the new E-class AMG version!!!

///Don't be forced into signing any settlements until you get the major bucks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

let us know how much you walk away with !!!

I will get plenty of Money, a guy that is in the same complex as my dad is a chiropractor, so I am going there today. And I will never make an apointment so they will have to charge me the extra $75 for a walk in visit I am not sure if i will be able to get pictures because the car is about 50 miles away but the cabin held up great. It was funny kinda, the airbags didnt go off but Tele-aid responded quicly.

Seriously, though, you'll be able to get any car you want with a settlement. I'm not a personal injury lawyer, but genuine injuries such as yours bring lots of money. The insurance companies have methods for computing the value of injuries, and I would imagine that all the variables in your situation would help you out. There are things that generally point to a larger settlement range; e.g., income, history of lawsuits, age, medical bills, and other demographic information (some of which are a little arbitrary). Also, because you were hit by a commercial vehicle (and an oil tanker at that), insurance coverage is likely to be pretty extensive.

I would talk to a good lawyer in town, which generally, though not always, means someone who doesn't advertise on late-night TV.

Why can't you drive the Family ML? Since your mom and dad both have S classes????

If you were pushed into the car in front of you how come no airbag deployment?

hertz has cars in Charlotte available for 220 a week

oh one last thing is there a guideline for mental anguish and distress pricing standards?

Unhappy

Hey timmy..
i'm sorry to hear about this accident...damn, you've lost both your cars like this!...why do people keep hitting you?..what is the matter with them?..good choice deciding to go from your all time amercian muscle beast to a luxurious MB C coupe!
As far as what your nrext car should be....i think replacing your C coupe is a Brand new one!....i don't think you've even owned yours for more than 10 months...so, you didn't even get a chance to spent your time with it. Since you bought your c Coupe at such an early date, there's more available options today.
one Question though, when the oil tanker hit you, did the rear passenger cabin part get crumpled? I understand stand that hardly anyone from your family/friends would sit back there...but let's say for arugment sake, if there was, would he/she had made it?...or perhaps more injured than you were?..thanks!

I had no problem using rentals under 25. Some brands have no problem with it, just charge extra for insurance purposes. I think General was one of the under-25-friendly car rental companies. Call around.
