Just got my exhaust/muffler done! Thanks guys!
After reading all the talk about resonators and mufflers and exhausts (yes I actually STFF lol), I decided on removing my resonator to increase the sound output. I chose this because I did not want an obnoxiously loud exhaust and wanted to maintain the quiet feel of my Merc.
Anyway, when I got to the shop and got under the car, we looked and saw no resonator. We only saw 4 catalytic converters. I immediately thought "crap, I've gotta buy a loud muffler now". After talking to the guys, they said that they have recently been tuning OEM mufflers for local wheel companies with AMG equipped CLKs and E classes. They said I'd be the first V6 and the price was cheaper than buying the muffler so I gave it a shot. One of the cool things was that I was able to keep everything OEM. So even if I do get pulled over, I can just say "look its original!" lol
I was offered a straight pipe (audio section w/out video in youtube clip) or the twin loop system sound that the factory uses to muffle the sound. I chose the twin loop sound because it was more quiet and more bearable.
On a side note, our muffler internals are pretty interesting. They use a similar design to the Mugen Twin-Loop exhaust to muffle the sound.

Well, enough talking... Karo prob wants this up by now so here it is.
Thanks guys.

But yah, I was a little baffled but did some more research last nite TruTaing is right about 04.5-05 not having them.
it sounds good!
i have to be totally honest though, its not very loud, and i think the magnaflow setup is a better option for e guys on here that want a louder AMG type sound
but it still sounds really clean!!
I should be happy with the quiet tone though... At least it'll satisfy my tuning itch for the time being. LOL.
OHH BTW, new video w/ driving footage and audio! Adding it to the main post as soon as it's uploaded.

I would've been happy if I could have what you have now before getting my muffler.
Sounds good and 'subtle' just the way I like it
Honestly, you can feel the exhaust a bit more (vibration from extra sound) but it's no where near as bad as a complete exhaust/new muffler would have been. The thing that I love the most is that it's still quiet when I want it to be and sounds great when I'm accelerating.
This may have just been a filler mod though... I'll probably want more soon. I hate this modding itch. It consumes me.
