I have this problem. I always push it down and it's good for a week then when I wash my car I push it down again. I guess it's a common thing.

Could always get new pedal covers or just re-adhere the rubber properly.
All else fails, duct tape that sucker... Duct tape and zippy ties fix EVERYTHING. lol.

Thats what I did. Not the duct tape part but the new pedal covers that you screw onto your gas pedal. I did this prior to hearing about the slipping gas pedal. I lucked out I guess.

Yeah, mine came with the Carlson style screw in type pedals. I would recommend getting a set before they cause you real problems like they did Hooley. Actually, until I read some of the "pedal" posts I didn't even realize that my pedal weren't OEM. That's how well they fit in.

depends on where and who you buy from... i ordered a set from germany and the quality was great, try to get the 4 pieces (including foot rest)

and on the pedal problem, try re-mounting it..
