Exclamation Regarding recent moderator topic

Folks, I've gone through and read as many of the recent posts as I can regarding this recent uprising against specific moderators. A few of you have taken the time to email me your concerns, thank you. For the record, I closed the Poll posted by Rick as I feel it is a personal attack on accord.

The C-Class forum has a high amount of traffic and hence there are a large mix of personalities here. It is not a surprise that there has recently been a clash of these personalities, though this represents a minority. Still, it has caused some rumbling, be it good or bad. I feel our moderators do a tremendous job at maitaining day-to-day oversight of the forums and do what they can to ensure a stable environment so things do not get out of hand. I'm all for freedom of speech, but you have to understand that there are certain things that will not be tolerated, especially personal attacks- from both users and moderators- it works both ways. There are ways to mitigate issues, without fighting fire with fire. Flame wars do not solve anything. This is a forum, but we will not solve world peace here. If you feel strong about an issue or an individual, please let me know. I have no gripes with voicing your opinions, just do it in a respectful way. And if you feel the individual in question is not respecting you, especially if he/she is a moderator, then let me know about it via email or PM! I will mitigate the situation.

I've learned the hard way that you can't please everybody, so I won't even attempt to. If anyone was offended by accord's approach, then I apologize for it. I assure you that he was only trying to mitigate recent rumblings. So, let's move on and please refrain from personal attacks. Remeber, this is your forum so you make it what it is. Feel free to email or PM me with any comments. Thank you!

I don't have 675+ posts to my credit - but I'll say I have never had a problem with any moderator in here - and I appreciate this free forum and the job the moderators do.

THANKS GUYS !

Thumbs up

Other than the fact that he apparently drives a Honda, 'accord' is a great asset to MBWorld. ...RAB

I don't drive an Accord, I drive an S500 and I have a 2003 C32 on order . My handle is Accord after a "Treaty", not a crappy Honda.

Yes, I know. I wanted to see if anyone else would pick up on my humor. It's a slow day here.

Have a great day and don't let any 'rear ends' speak/e-mail out of context. As a Moderator, I assume you have VETO power on posts?? ...RAB

Thumbs down Crappy Honda?

Forgive me, John, but do you also consider my NSXs "crappy Honda's"?
While my C-32 is a wonderful machine, I only hope it remains as trouble-free and as reliable as my children's Accords.

JZMD1, john's opinion is just that, his opinion. don't take too much offense at it. if it's some solace, mbtech208 (the mb technician and another moderator) drives a honda accord and he loves it.

My problem, though, is that comments like "crappy Honda" or the "unsafe BMW" rant are the kinds of comments that would have gotten someone else's posts deleted.

Most carmakers could still learn something from Honda, including MB.

I think Honda makes great, reliable cars. Perhaps not to everyone's likings, but that's why the economy can sustain a number of manufacturers (if they don't all merge some day..haha). To each his own!

Question I'm to blame...

OK, OK, it's MY fault. I tried to write a funny post about Accord's 'Tag Name' being displayed on a M-B Forum and I get him in trouble when he responds back to me. Please don't kick him around. Before we know it, good meaning, volunteers like John, a.k.a. Accord, will abandon this forum and everyone will be the loser. Cooler heads people. Thank you. ...RAB

*Restrains Himself*

It is perfectly find for people on these forums to put down other car companies, after all... this is a Mercedes Benz forum. If the MB executives are not upset over my comments about Honda's and BMW's, then you should not be aswell!

Thanks for the kind words Robert .

there is a difference from saying:

"i dont like BMWs, they all look alike, and the styling seems tired to me"

and saying:

"quantatatively they are death traps, heres some facts i just made up off the top of my head."

the first makes you sound like an intelligent, individual with your own opinions, the second makes you look simply opinionated, especially when the links you offer as proof dispute your claim.

i would think straight spam concerning other car manufatures, and simple hating was relegated to the clubsi and clubrsx boards.

guess not

Although i think our moderators are doing a good job with this forum (like i posted earlier)....i do agree that we shouldn't say "crappy" honda...cuz some of us have honda's...or toyota's.. or a car other then a MB. Some of us spend $20,000 plus on a honda...and now its "crappy". I dont have a honda, but i do have plenty of cars in that same level and price bracket....And when i first drove it around, knowing that i paid it with my hard earned money, it made me feel good....

Now im happy that i was able to buy a MB...even if its an entry level one. I guess my point is, some people cant afford the luxury of the benz...and some people like me started off driving in economy cars (cuz thats what we can afford)....i guess i cant "make fun" of HONDAS cuz ive been there before....and now my little bro is driving in one...

..im having trouble making my point...so i hope you guys understand what im trying to say.

My little brother has a Honda Civic aswell, he had the option of getting a Benz but chose the Civic; why, I don't know. He got it new about a year ago, and the car has had a lot of problems. So when I said "Crappy Honda", I was saying it out of personal experience, not out of shear judgement of cheaper cars.

There are numerous cars out there that are cheaper than Honda's, but they are quality cars. Like Hyundai, those cars are among the cheapest on the market, but they are reliable, quality cars.

on the original topic...

I as well have been impressed by the professionality with which the MBworld forums are conducted. It's a real pleasure to be able to come to this site and browse and read and post and feel like a part of a real community of owners/enthusiasts, as JamE55 and I were discussing the other day.

Everyone is doing a great job, moderators and members alike, and I'm glad we don't have any upsetting disturbances that will brake that accord among us (Sorry. I couldn't help the pun.) I wasn't even aware of any flame wars that had indeed been brewing here. (Probably because I don't read every single thread, but that's not why I wrote that sentence.) I'm glad to be a part of this site regardless!
