6K off out-the-door price on a C320 coupe

Today I bought a C320 coupe; pewter metallic, C5, C2, CD, Auto, (alas no C7 ).
I negotiated to 5560 under MSRP of 33150.

So when we add taxes, title, licence, fees, bribes, etc, here in the Peoples Republic of California, that 33150 is almost exactly 36K out the door. I paid 30K.

It appears that the 4K loaner program will end on Monday the 31st at midnight.

Timely negotiating tips:
1) Inform the salesman that you can only consider buying because of the 4K subsidy; that you couldn't afford to be a MB customer without it.
2) Mention that the war in Iraq is going slower than expected.
3) If the salesman is over 50, mention that it is starting to remind you of Vietnam.
( #2 was planned. I discovered #1 and #3 by accident )

The C320 coupe is the same as the C230K coupe except with the 3.2L engine in the C320 sedan and wagon.

2003 C230 Kompressor Coupe
Now I'm depressed- I did'nt know there was C320 coupe with a V6- I just bought a C230 coupe with a pretty wimpy 189 4 cylinder.

I suppose I could trade up but I would probably lose my ***.

Guess I should have done a little more homework.

Thats a great deal...still would not have helped those who had to order their car because they are picky (me)....enjoy the new ride.

Since when is 189HP 'wimpy'?

The C320 has only been out a couple of months. It took many here by surprise, so don't feel too out of the loop. Had I known a V6 was coming back in 02, I might have waited for the 6...but now that I have mine, I wouldn't trade. The sound the supercharger makes, and the "kompressor' badging on the back add something very mysterious to the car, something most people have no clue about. I have an 02, and the HP is more than adequate.

Yes the 189 HP is good for this size car and and it is quite peppy but its performance doesn't quite match it's appearance.

Guess i'm just used to the tire scorching power of my Regal GS (240 HP) although the GS has nowhere near the magical appeal of the 230.

I'm sure the tuners are working on performance upgrades for the '03 as we speak . I just hope they hurry.

Do you have an automatic? I'm guessing you do, as the 6 speed is quite capable of turning those large C7 Pilots into white blue haze.

KLEEMAN has plans for a 300+HP Lysholmed C-Coupe...I believe its undergoing work right now.

Yeah, I agree that MB should have made sure the car came with enough HP to smack down its competition...but the car does have enough merits in other areas that its .5 second difference to 60 vs. the aisan coupes that it really didn't matter to me.

Robert Schrader: Please provide more details RE: 4k loaner program

Looking to buy a c 230 sedan, 4k off would be a fantastic discount.

That discount is for coupes only, and is also at the discretion of the dealer. The sedan likely has very little, if any, discount. Sorry.

Kleeman has been offering 300+ hp for a year or more. What's new about this one?

And does a newer version imply that the older one will be discontinued any time soon?

Thanks.

Not for the C230k

What's new about this one?
It replaces the Eaton M45 Rootes type supercharger with a Lysholm twin screw supercharger.

I'm not sure exactly how it works. I imagine that any car that was put into demo or loaner service during last month will have the money back. So if those cars are still around and not sold yet, you might still be able to get the $4000. But it won't apply to any new ones coming in. I'm guessing that's how it works.

Actually, at my dealer, we are not so desperate for sales. So the $4000 is not automatic. It gives us something to work with when dealing on a car. But the more you can sell it for, the more of that money is made by the dealer. But it sounds like most of these CA dealers have so much stock that they are offering the huge discounts just to move some cars. So the money back really depends on the dealer.
