Philips H7 VisionPlus ...HELP...ASAP
Ok I've decided to purchase the Philips VisionPlus [H7] bulbs. At EvoSport the bulbs are $55/pair + shipping. But doing a search I stumbled upon this site which has the following lights ...
Philips Blue Vision Bulbs H7 Twin Pack
Price: £24.99
Philips Premium Bulbs H7 Twin Pack
Price: £20.99
Philips All Weather Bulbs H7 Twin Pack
Price: £19.00
I don't know what the prices translate to in US Dollars but I figure it's still cheaper. But my main question is what is the "Blue Vision" from Philips? What is the difference between the regular VisionPlus H7 and the "Blue Vision" and is it legal?

Both Blue Vision and Vision-Plus are not DOT approved, so technically are not legal. With all the different headlight configurations on the market today, chances are NONE that law enforcement would ever know the difference without actually removing the bulb and seeing that it does not say 'DOT' on the base.
I have both.....the Vision-Plus are much better than stock bulbs but close to the same color (yellowish), the Blue-Vision are white-er, but not ricer-white. I used the Blue-Vision in my low beams and the Vision-Plus in my high beams. I bought them from England.
I recently did the Bi-Xenon upgrade so I have no use for these bulbs anymore. I'll sell them for $40 (both pairs = 4 bulbs) including mailing them to you....

BlueVision has a little bit of blue tint to the light. VisionPlus is all white. I went with the VisionPlus and you can definitely see a difference between these and the stock ones.
I got mine from www.autolamps-online.com
They are $40 bucks a pair with free shipping.

Get the Phillips Rallye, about the same price and much brighter, close to HID lights without the blue. They have them at www.powerbulbs.com

So, do our cars use 1 H7 for low beam, and 1 h7 for hi beam, on each side?
What is the standard wattage?
The rallaye bulb is 80w which seems reasonable. Thats about 6.5 amps per side, 80 watts aint that much, they must have used wire good enough for that?
Anyone have one of those charts that matches wire guage to
power?
If possible, I'd like to run the rallayes as brights, but what should I use to replace lo beams?
The Vision Plus might be too bright for low.
I'd appreciate some comments.
Looks like perhaps the Blue vision is preffered for lo beam?

Unless you use your high beams a lot, I would put the rallye bulbs in the low beams. I think the lows are severly lacking in the coupe, but the highs are okay. I did 100W lows and aimed them up and I can finally see now, and I don't blind anybody.

Wow. 100 W lows?
In any case I have yet to see any 100w H7 bulbs.
What, ie brand, model, are they?

They are very cheap and I have had them for over 6 months with no problems. Even if they do blow out, they're cheap enough to replace. And you can see how they look in my sig.

Ok new question. I just installed 100w H7 lights for my low beams but only now see how egregious it looks with stock hi's (blue with yellow = eew). The lights I plan to purchase from Kiesta are also Philips H7 (whites and blues), see first page, so can I install them in my fog and hi-beams?

You can put the H7's in your high beams, but not the fogs. IIRC, the fogs are 9006. I changed all my front lights and it looks good when the color matches.

Matt, the midnighmoose bulbs, are they really 100 Watts or normal halogen's that they claim look like 100 Watts? It would seem dangerous putting double the heat output in the same plastic housing.

I don't know if they are really 100W. I just assumed they were. I think all the labeling says 100W and not something like "the output of 100W".
Yes, it could be dangerous, but I guess I'm just being risky. I don't drive a whole lot at night and not long distances, so hopefully everything will last for a while. The plastic housings can probably handle it, but I have heard of it ruining reflectors. That might be the biggest potential problem.

I ordered the Philips VisionPlus bulbs from Autolamps.com 5 days ago and have already received them! Am very impressed by the speedy delivery. Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone knows how it is possible for the visionplus 55W bulb to put out 50% more light then the 55W stock ones. On the package Philips claims that the beams reach 10-20m longer. Is that due to brighter lights or are the beams directed at a different angle??

Please post your impressions RI203 .
How do you plan to use them?
As normal or brights?
You only ordered the one set?
I'm still thinking Vision Plus low, and Rallaye hi's.
100 W for lo beams would get me my *** kicked around here.

Ok the new lights that I got for low beams are;
Farenheit Super White Xenons (H7 12v 100W)
For high beams should I get;
Philips VisionPlus (whites) or BlueVision (blues) ?

I am using the VisionPlus as low beams. After installing one bulb, I turned on my lights to compare it with the other stock bulb and I definitely noticed that the VisionPlus side was brighter. The color is about the same maybe a little whiter than stock but not that noticable. Regardless they are still yellow. I used to have PIAA Extreme Whites. Those had a nice color and were bright enough for driving in my area but they died after 14 months. I didn't feel like ditching out another $110 for another pair. So far I am quite happy with the VisionPlus but if you are after the Xenon-look, get something else.

I don't give a hoot what they look like as long as I can see the road better, and I do use my brights a lot.
And I don't want to replace them constantly, as in cheap bulbs.
See my sig?
1986 Bertone X19 go cart? Ha. Not much power, but sure a kick in the *** to drive, 4" off the ground.
I have Cibie "Z Beams" 60/100 ralleye H4's in that car. I'm sure they're not DOT, but it sure made a difference when driving, especially on back roads. Amazingly in 15 years, they've never burned out.

If you put 'em in your high beams, you could BBQ people with 'em. ;-)
