I'll have to consider this when my OEM front brakes are worn out. I just replaced the rears at 75,000 miles with new cheap semi-metallic pads. No real dust problem from them, they don't do that much. My car is on its third set of pads and second set of rotors right now. Original pads lasted till 27,000 miles, second set of pads and original rotors lasted until 53,000 miles, and everything is all good for me now at 81,000.
Something interesting:
Through the first two sets of OEM front pads, the brake dust was extreme. When I replaced it with the third set of OEM front pads at 53,000 miles, the dust isn't nearly as bad as it was previously. But these are genuine Mercedes parts. I thought they might have changed something about them?

At 52,000 last year is when I took myself and four other adults on a 1150 mile trip to FL in the sweltering heat. High speeds, hot temps, the car was VERY loaded, and it just toasted the brakes. The car didn't throw up any pad wear warnings but the rotors were shot after that trip - lots of vibrations. Since the rotors had 52k on them, I elected to replace everything at that time rather than wait for the warning.
The brakes are fine now at almost 81k. These will likely last much longer than the previous two sets.

I did factory pads on my 2004.5 C230 because they don't really dust that much, not like a 2005. But my kid's MB, we did Akebono all the way around, no dust, wearing well after 3 years.
I also like the Pep Boys ceramic ProStop pads I use on other cars like my wife's Jeep (originals lasted 13 months with lots of dust, ProStop Ceramic, no dust, still on there 4 years later) and on a Mustang, stops as good as factory OEM pads which were discontinued. They are well made with stainless steel shims and beveled edges.

You don't really use that much of the lube/quieting compound. It should only really be used where the pad seats in the caliper.

Here's where there's some confusion on the front brake pads from Akebono. I know for sure that my car (2005 C230 Kompressor Sport 4-door) takes teh EUR1121 pads. I heard from several people that the fronts on our cars would be the EUR872 pads. I don't know what the EUR872 look like, but the EUR1121's worked perfectly for my car.

If you do ceramic, go Akebono. I did those for the fronts and textars for the rears. Fronts haven't squeaked, rears have, even after two sandings of the pads and rotors. The textars are supposed to be ceramic, too...
Both front and rear done within 500 miles.

hello, have you experienced any squealing? I have the exact same setup on my front for my 2005 C230K, Zimmerman rotors, Akebono ceramic up front. same part numbers. Changed them both at the same time. Rears are OEM. when i back up there is a pretty loud squeal coming from the front, i thought it might be the rears but i had someone stand outside and sure enough its the front. took them off put some of the brake squeal paste and it still does it. not when i go forward just when backing up. but hey, one good thing NO BRAKE DUST!

I have akebenos up front and rear.. Balo's front and rears.. I bought ceramics because in the past they leave less dust and dont squeak at all. It might be your rear brakes honestly. OEMS are semi metallics
