Water in the trunk

Water in the trunk
Hi, i have a w203, 2001. Today was raining and when i opened my trunk i noticed that the lining from the bottom part of the right side "pocket", behind the back wheel arch was wet. I pulled out the lining and i checked the walls around thinking that the water has to infiltrate from somewhere above. Nothing. I checked also the taillights and their mountings same result. The "pocket" was wet only on the very bottom, nowhere else.
Do you have any idea where this water is coming from?
I want also to mention that i am parking my car under a tree and the leaves have blocked the space between the car and the plastic trims located by the trunk drainage. Can this be the reason?
I have noticed this moisture after i drove my car in the rain, so i don't know if it was wet from before.
I never had this problem before, even in winters and heavy snow.
I am waiting for your answer.
Thank you in advance.

I've never had an issue with this nor heard of any... maybe there was some leaking water bottle or some liquid in your trunk? only time i've had fluids in my trunk is when a bottle (last one was armor all leather cleaner =( ) leaked open, that was fun to clean up. I'd say dry up all the water and wait for the next rainfall then check again, then you know for sure water's getting in.. then i'd guess check that all your weather stripping is in order.
have you been in any rear end accidents that your trunk may not be properly aligned?

1999 CLK320 (sold), 2007 C230 SS (gone), 2000 Grand Marquis, 2011 CR-Z, stay tuned...
I want to say I saw a thread on this forever ago, but I didn't pay much attention. I agree with contact (on both parts). I've never had an issue, and it's definitely not common. Good luck!

Had this exact same problem in my 2001 C320
Check 2 things:
1: The sunroof drain hose - make sure it is not blocked or leaking.
2. Most likely the rear window needs to be resealed. I had the rear window removed and resealed. - Problem solved. Trunk has been dry for 3 years since.

I noticed water in the small compartment directly behind the passenger side taillight. We had heavy rain for a few days, ironic for Southern Cali, I think thats when it happened. I didn't notice it until I reached in to grab my car duster and it was soaking wet.

it was also happened to my friend's car.
He went to dealer and checked. The problem was coming from the seal from rear windshield because of aging and due to heat from street parking.
You may want to check the upper lining from the trunk cover (the black plastic for draining system for upper trunk, when you open your trunk there is a black plastic panel between the body and rubber on the trunk. you can see it.)
hope it helps.

Do you know how can I remove those plastic panels to check underneath them?
Are there any drainage holes?
