Help with rear deck removal

I'm trying to install a subwoofer enclosure that doesnt quite fit through the trunk opening...so I'm trying to get it in from inside the car. In order to do this, I'll need to remove the rear deck.

I'm currently at the point where I've done the following:

* Removed rear seat (both pieces)
* Removed C Pillar plastic pieces
* Removed the cover of the deck (the hard cover and the rubbery piece underneath it)

The bare metal deck is now exposed but I can't see any obvious way to remove it, help please! I found the following from a thread for a W210 -

https://mbworld.org/forums/mercedes-...k-removal.html
"Unbolt the three 10mm nuts underneath the sunshade, accessed from in the trunk. Lift up the shelf, unplug the sunshade motor, and it comes right out"

This seems like part of it, but those 3 bolts cant be everything needed to take the deck out. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I searched but couldnt find anything specifically answering my question.

upon closer inspection the deck appears to be welded to the car, and if that's the case then I guess it's time to put everything back together. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you for that incredibly insightful post, but I didn't ask you what you would do...I asked how to get the deck out.

I have a 12W7 in JL's HO enclosure, not really a sub you want to get a "smaller enclosure" on. My alternative option would be to get a custom blow through enclosure built by a local shop, but I'd rather save the money if I can just get the rear deck out.

(I apologize for the sarcasm, but I can't stand when someone posts in a thread just to post with no actual help being offered.)

Would there be the gas tank behind the steelpanel?
As far as I know, in Benz cars the gas tank is not flat under the car but behind the passenger seat.

The car has saddle tanks under the rear seat. You can remove the steel shelf. It's part of the shell

Search thread by Wardsweb on removing factory sub etc.
