What finish?
Here's pictures of a white BMW E90 3 series that I vinyl wrapped the roof with in gloss black. He also had black wheels, so it'll give those who are curious how the black roof works with black wheels.

I am curious too. I used to paint my roofs before but this time around they are telling me just to wrap it instead. What's the long term effects on the paint? And do you just clean and wax like normal paint? I might use your assistance Don since you are like on all the forums. PM me pricing for an A5 roof with a very SUBTLE roof spoiler.

Most likely the vinyl (for the vinyl I use), will last longer than most of you will own your cars. Once it starts nearing the end of its life, it'll depend on how you cared for it, but all of the above you listed could happen. Most of the time, it just starts having faded spots in the vinyl.
The vinyl I use is meant to be completely reversible. The only time I've seen vinyl that I use peel paint, is where the paint/clear coat was already coming off. I can also assume/see paint coming off, if it was a poor repaint job.
Care is very simple. I've had it on one of my friend's cars that he tracks and parks outside all/every day, without any issues really thus far.

In comparison to gloss black on a blue car, there's matte black on a blue car. Sorry for the quality, didn't have my regular camera on hand, and had to use a point and shoot.

Smoked/tinted the tails on this new Mercedes E class. Trimmed out the reverse/turn signal portions as well for him.

Vinyl wrapped the roof of this E60 BMW 550i in gloss black material.
I know almost all of my pictures of white cars, but I must admit, they do look the best on white cars. Although, I do wish cars of other colors would come by to get it done, and add a little bit more of variety, haha.

Here's a white C300 Mercedes that I vinyl wrapped the roof in gloss black for. Note, the roof/side rails were already black, and so was the antenna.

I may mildly regret posting these pictures, but I had some people ask me if I've done it before, and to post pictures if I do/have. Well, here are pictures of an aftermarket Mercedes C class front grill that I vinyl wrapped in the 3M Di-noc carbon fiber material.
Now note, it's not really possible...actually let me rephrase that...it's not really practical to wrap some of the grills that are out there, due to its design and shapes. However, this one is one of those exceptions.
Sorry for the pictures, I didn't have much lighting, and had to use a flash to even get the weaves to show. Let me know what you guys think.
