(THIS THREAD IS A JOKE AND IS NOT REAL)Hmmm..a bang and now the horn is on
THIS THREAD IS A JOKE..SOME FORUM FUN. DO NOT EVER HIT THE MENU THAT I POSTED. THIS WILL MAKE YOUR AIRBAGS GO OFF.
Hey guys, I was fooling around with DAS on Patrick's car and I don't know what I pressed and now the horn is on. He doesn't know this because his car was over at my place. Should I just cut the horn cable? It only happens when I turn on the key. Ohh ya there was a small bang (kind of like a gun went off) and i wanted to take the car for a drive to see if it works and now the seat belt doesn't move![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
This is what I pressed. I don't know what it is since it's in German.
I guess I'll just cut off the horn cable but what about the seat belt?

Ohh and I did see minimal dust come off the steering wheel. Maybe the steering wheel was dusty? I mean it is an 03 and all that dust can collect over time but it was a lot of dust.

Pretensioners preemptively tighten the belt to prevent the occupant from jerking forward in a crash. Mercedes-Benz first introduced pretensioners on the 1981 S-Class. In the event of a crash, a pretensioner will tighten the belt almost instantaneously. This reduces the motion of the occupant in a violent crash. Like airbags, pretensioners are triggered by sensors in the car's body, and most pretensioners use explosively expanding gas to drive a piston that retracts the belt. Pretensioners also lower the risk of "submarining", which is when a passenger slides forward under a loosely worn seat belt. An alternative approach being looked at by major car companies is the CG-Lock technology whereby the occupant is held in position via the lap belt in order to prevent the passenger from coming out of position in the event of a crash.
in my accident in the excursion i know the seat belts would not retract anymore i had to throw one around the seat to get it out of the way to close the door. like i said i hope you are joking.

CAREFUL: Airbag modules have the option of actuating the airbag firing outputs directly from this menu. PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION, DO NOT LET ANYONE SIT IN THE VEHICLE WHEN WORKING ON THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. Relevant menu options: look for Crashstufe Ansteuern, Zundkreis (ZK, ZK-Stufe) Ansteuern..

from my understanding the actuators have the same dust that you get with airbags which is white dust that is very annoying i had it all over myself after the accident. Horn i have no idea i do know when your car thinks you wrecked it unlocks the doors i got my car to do it the other day. don't know about dust from steering wheel unless you are crazy.

Ya, I really don't care about the horn. I'll cut the wire off. But he will notice his seatbelt. What should I do with that?
I mean I can cut off the horn and just say your horn went bad but what should I do if he tries to put on his seatbelt. I cleaned of the dust. It looked like Patrick stashed cocaine in his car because that's how the dust looked.

I don't know what I pressed but I have a very strong feeling I might have resetted the whole system so maybe now I have to recalibrate/resynchronize everything.
Anyone know how to resynchronize the seatbelt and door locks...maybe this is why the horn is on I have to resynchronize that too.
Ya, i'm pretty sure that's what I have to do.

All of these symptoms seem like you triggered some sort of safe mode for the car as if it had just been in an accident. Perhaps the dust was something that happened pertaining to the airbag, the pretensioners are doing their job, locking the belts in position, and the doors remain unlocked because the car thinks the passengers would be trapped inside if the doors were locked.

Update:
I cleaned all the dust. I took off the battery and plugged it back in and now his key doesn't work. Great now I have to recalibrate his ignition.
But the weirdest thing was that when I unplugged his battery his seat belt still didn't work. I don't know why.
I guess i'll pull off the ECU next. I wonder if I swap it with mine maybe his car might start??
I'm pretty sure it will. I'm gonna do that now and report back. Be Right Back guys.

Simple question guys. I don't need your Airbag theories.
IF I BLEW AN AIRBAG I WOULD HAVE SEEN AND FELT IT..IDIOTS
HOW DO I RESYNCHRONIZE THE DOOR LOCKS, SEATBELT AND HORN.
I DON'T NEED YOUR AIRBAG CONSPIRACY HERE!!!!
If you have raw information post it and dont make stupid airbag comments.
sorry i'm a little stressed over this.

I'm just trying to help. I don't see why you have to be sour about it. I hope you did indeed detonate the airbag some how and you have to compensate for your friends vehicle. What an idiot.

If I did detonate the airbag don't you think It would have hit my face?? It's not the airbag. Like I said before I'm sure I reset the ECU somehow and now I need to resynchronize the Door Locks, Seat Belt and Horn...some people are such noobz on this forum...making me look like an idiot.

OK well the pretensioners from my understanding blow once they are an explosion (sound like a gun shot) that once it goes you have to replace it and if it is locked then you are screwed. The door locks i have never heard of a re sync but i am sure you will figure it out and the horn is confusing me i can't think of a reason for it to be going off i assume it is the main horn not the alarm horn right?

I'm a noob? You're the one crossing the line messing with DAS. Your unexperienced self has no way of navigating such a vast system. You don't seem like the brightest type. Good luck with your resynchronizing. I hope in the process you do indeed get hit in the face with a 200mph sucker punch. Good bye.
Anyway back to topic. WTH did I do here? You guys think a resynch will do the job? I'm soo close to swapping our ECUs to see what happens. Be right Back let me go do that now.

Jesus I take it back - I don't want you to do any programming on my car. You definitely blew a pre-tensioner. As for the ignition and horn, I dunno.
