DIY 2009 CLC ICM ( Cluster ) into older CL203 or w203
Hi there guys,
So i have been working on a project of mine, converting an 2002 C230 Coupe into 2009 CLC , well mostly done but still having some wiring and module codding to do.
Well on the topic: If you are asking can you put newer ICM from w203 or CL203-2 ( CLC ) and CLK into your older w203 or CL203 the answer is yes .
There are some things you should know before doing that>>>
- millage wont show on the new cluster as it is different of that stored into the EZS, you will get ( -------- ) instead, the way to fix it is to disassemble the cluster, remove the EEPROM and reprogram it making it VERGIN so it can be recoded as a new one on your old millage ( Will do DYI on that later ) .
- function adaptation, all will work but if you need to activate or disable functions you will have to do this into a vehicle made after 2004 because the EZS is updated as of that year.
- if your car is manifactured before 08/2002 you will get an message SPEED TRONIC unoperational because your Cruise control is the plder vertion as well as the steering column. But thats no big deal it works just the message pops up, and it can be turned off with DAS.
- fuel gage not working properly, because after 2003 it has been updated to MIPS sensor so your new dash is MIPS, you will need to switch to the old tipe using DAS, but it wirks fine unless you dont leave the car low on gas as the Gage wont show the correct level and you may run out before it shows.
- everithing else works perfect conectors are the same, same wiring and same clips to hook up on the dashpad.
If you want to do it the propper way>
- find complete set ICM, EZS, Steering column with the wheel, and you are set after a bit of rewiring and adding some extra CAN wres to the CAN Gateway you will set your car as updated 2004 mod which goes up to now and you will be able to easy get Keyless go, MOST, Shifters on the wheel and so on, as i am doing on mine.
If you have any questions or sujestions feel free to post, i will put as many pics as i can and will post some wiring diagrams as well so you can have an idea how its done.
Oh and yes there are some guys here, they say they know it all, they say they did it all, but when you ask for help they say " you should pay for it all " you probably know who, so i wont say it, i will just show them that the forum is not for making money ontop of people but helping them do the job them self and if then they cant do it you can advise for help and get payed doing it for them.

Really? I didn't even notice. LOL. I thought it was similar to the one in my C300 when I first glanced at it. I love the button layout on this setup far more too.

Hello,
I am from Germany and drive a Mercedes C-Class W203 C320 sedan.
I've seen your conversion in the Mercedes forum.
I will also mount the clc front.
Can you tell me what parts I need for the conversion?
Do you have the part numbers?
What exactly do I need to rebuild, that fits the CLC steering wheel?
Is it possible to install the W204 steering wheel?
I am very grateful for your help.
Greetings from Germany
Vitali

C200L w203 K cluster update to 05 cluster
friend will anything happen to my old cluster if i try to plig the nwer one inin witht he same plug? the plug is the same , im just worried becuz i have heard stories about some people stuffing up the original cluster by trying t connect an upfdated one like the my05 cluster aswell.... things like fuel gauge no longer works aand cruise control no longer works aswell...i dont wanna riskk stuffing something up , just to try it out without complete success yet... pls can u assure me, once i plug my older cluster back in it will be fine as it was before?? sorry to hassle you just wanna be sure.. nd i figured id ask a professional whos actually doing the modification on their car, rather then just talking about it ..like most do!!!!
