C7 Pedals installed (PICS)

okay, finally finished installing the c7 pedals. all of them cost about $40 from the dealer. Part #'s:

Gas: 170 300 00 04
Brake: 170 290 00 82
Clutch: 170 290 02 82
E-Brake: 230 430 00 84

The install took about 20 mins, 19 of which were for the gas pedal. Note: the gas pedal has one screw on the bottom of the plastic plate and a clip at the top. the clip must be pressed together (on right side of pedal) and the other end must be pushed out using a small flathead screwdriver. after the clip is removed, i slipped off the rubber pedal from the housing and slipped on the aluminum one. the housing for the aluminum pedal looks a bit different, but the main reason i did that was ease of installation and also because it has two holes on the end of it whereas the oem rubber housing assembly only has one in the centre. regardless, i think its easier to just slip off the old pedal and slip on the new one. everything stays in tact that way and all you have left to do is re-insert the clip at the top. hope this helps all of you.

pic 5: this is the screw that hols the assembly in place...note: the oem one has one screw whereas the aluminum pedal assembly has two holes that are not centred. another reason why i just slipped the new one on.

Yeah, no matter how much cleaning you do, that carpet will never look like new again. Nice pedals though. They look just like mine.

What does the C7 pedals look like for an automatic?

Anybody got the part numbers for the brake pedal in the auto?

Thanks!

$40?

$40 only? Aren't they generally much more expensive? Are all the dealers the same price down here in San Diego? I want some!!!

Antonio:

Replacing the gas pedal on the automatic requires the same procedure you described in your manual install?

No cutting of the gas pedal as some other members have done?

I was under the impression that you had to buy the entire gas pedal assembly and that was $127. How did you get all of them for $40??

yes, the auto gas pedal is the same. also, there is no need for the entire assembly. just buy the gas pedal separately. this is from a slk, but it is identical to the c7 pedals. that is why the part numbers are different.

I think if I had an automatic car and wanted to do this particular conversion, I would use the complete pedal set from the SL500. That way the e-brake would match the gas and brake pedals (with the oval-shaped pleasure nubs).

Cheers, BT

What's the part #'s for the SL500's gas and brake pedals? Will they fit the C230 Coupe if following Antonio's instructions?

Sorry, I don't know the part numbers. I'm pretty sure I've seen someone on one of the forums do it. I beleive that the gas-pedal swap required buying the more expensive part though (with the attached linkage).

Using the SLK pedals is cheaper - but hey, buying most aftermarket tuner pedals are still more expenive than the set with a gas-pedal linkage.

I'm curious as to why you replaced the pedals? Do they provide better grip? or is it for aesthetics? I think they look great, but how often does anyone ever see the pedals? Now if they provide better grip then my complete rubber pedals I might be interested........

i got the pedals mainly for cosmetic reasons, besides being so cheap. i was surprised to feel how much grip they provide. i like them better than stock mainly because it feels firmer as it is aluminum and not rubber. that, and an addition of 8 HP at the rear wheels.

I think mainly for cosmetic/aesthetic reasons but they're also supposed to be more gripping (the rubber studs i guess vs grooved rubber cover), firmer feel, and rugged/durability......again mostly they're so darn cool. Kinda like why MB owners get bling bling (polished alum or chrome) wheels? they're not lighter, they're not stronger, they're hella costly, and they're very vulnerable to scratches etc but ppl. still love 'em.....and factory alum pedals are popping up on pretty much every new car they wanna sell as being "sporty".
