Trunk Release Button

Does the trunk release button on the drivers side door work when there is no key in the ignition? The reason I ask is because I just locked my keys in my trunk, and I know it would be cheaper to get someone to just unlock the door than having to entirely pop the trunk lock off.
Thanks,
Jasmin

The button works without a key in the ignition only if the car is unlocked. If you have TeleAid they'll unlock it for you remotely.

In that case, a brick would work.

If you use Tommy's method, be careful. If you hit it wrong, the brick can bounce and scratch the door.

Seriously, if you haven't tried to break car windows before - if you hit them in the middle they tend to flex. Probably the best (besides a real window punch) is to use the ceramic end from a spark plug. I don't know why, but break the ceramic end off and throw it at the window and it usually does the trick fast and quiet.

white and whiter
get some thin gauge wires and feed it through the top of the door and push down on the trunk release button.

Good luck! I can't offer more advice, but I will say that this is one of my biggest fears with the car. I think it's the only possible way to lock yourself out of the car. Do you not have a spare key anywhere?

Nope, bought the car used. Previous owner took some real bad care of the car, and they had no spare. Anyways I finally figured out my cheapest solution. The dealership is going to order me a new blade key, about $30 dollars or so, and it should be in by Friday. Kind of inconvenient since I'm locked out of my car till friday, but thankfully I can use my moms till then. Not the same without the Benz though haha

Tried calling a couple of different car unlocking companies, and one of them had the nerve to tell me that they would have to drill off my lock, which would require a new trunk lock to be installed. They dont install locks, I would've had to get that done at the MB dealership. And they wanted to charge me $85 to drill the lock off. hahaha

glad you figured it out i would have recommended ordering the blade key really cheap but it takes time. under $10 you are back in your car lol now you should order another key that can start your car so that this never happens again.

Sounds like the best way to do it. So where are you going to keep the blade key?

You think $85 is crazy? Oh no. A woman I know manages a restaurant. She took the keys to the restaurant to a tool/die place to make a copy for another manager. They told her that they'd have to make a mold of the key and cast new ones and it would cost $10,000.

No joke.
