how much space underneath backseat?
hi all im new to this forum. me and my gaf just got our first car, a 2002 c240 sedan 52k km without bose and any options (probably no backseat folding either), im an entry level audiophile and cannot tolerate the stereo system come with the car. ive ordered the following
pioneer 8200bt hu
polk mm6501 components for front only
polk mm840 8 inch sub
bassworx .35cubic ft 8 inch box (its very very small,27(W) x 25(H) x 23.5(D) cm)
mb quart onyx 4.60 4channel amp rated 480rms (can the w203 alternater handle 480 watts?)
this is our first car and i dont know a lot abt cars. so i booked my car install this saturday, i want to hide the amp and sub in/under backseat so it doesnt take trunk space (we have a fold bed that fits the truck excatly).
i want to know if this can be done (if theres enough space), ive done lot research on how to take the backseat off, but i donno if theres enough space. need help on this one.

how to get into c240 backseat
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/52389-w203-rear-folding-seats-ski-sack-retrofit-removing-back-seat-thread.html
-------------
if u have the sedan with the fixed rear seats (non split folding), just look at the bottom of the rear seat adjoining the carpet, there are 3 plastic covers one in d middle and one of each side. these plastics have 2slits in them, pry these with a flatscrew driver, and it should reveal a bolt beneath. remove the bolt..and voila! the rear seat is removed! as for the seatback...........u hav to ask the others.
------------------------
In the trunk, just above the felt on the backrest, there should be two plastic panels, one on the left and one on the right. Remove the panels (5" X 3" approx.) and there should be latches. Simple as pie!
------------------
You remove the 4 black covers underneathe the front of the seat, two on each side, and then remove four nuts with a 1/2" socket. Then pull seat. It comes right out.
----------------
Pop the headrests off, then pop off the grills.
From inside the boot, push the plastic lugs in that hold the speaker carriers in.
From inside the car wriggle out the spearker carriers. Try and unbolt the speakers from the carrier frist using a stubby screwdriver.
The whole job is fairly fiddly and takes a bit of coaxing to remove the speaker carriers, but it is far easier than other methods that recommend removing the rear seats etc.
------------
The plastic backing is held on with 4 screws and can be removed. You'll need to remove the carpeted backing on the seat. I don’t know if you can do this through the trunk, you might have to remove the seat. You'll also need to remove the armrest; this will make pulling out the backing a lot easier.

The wiring looks so scattered. Seems like the ground is running a bit close to the power line and may cause some interference noise.

thank you..in that case i wont bother to take the seat off..
i really cant afford to take any trunk space, that folding bed is so important and i can squeenze right into the truck right now, not an inch further...ill see if i can squeenze the sub and amp into tire area without taking the tire out

BTW,... you do realize AMPS get HOT! And there won't be a whole lot of air circulation underneath the backseat,.... well, I guess you could always tell us how flamable the backseat is.

Well, if they can think of putting it back there, I am sure there is some way to deal with the air circulation. Perhaps connect a fan or double fan (computer fans) to the power of the amp? That way, it will on turn on when the amp turns on.

W210 E320
This is what I've done with my W210,
taken out the spare wheel, made a custom sub box and have the sub there. This sub is a decent 12inch+ high which is why it sticks out from the floor, but the polk is much smaller so you could have the whole thing UNDER the floor, with a grille on top cut out of the floor or a new 'false floor' with a grille.
Amp could always go in the spare wheel well (with a grille there will be enough air circulation) or else under the one of the front seats (i'm not familiar with the 203 though so don't know how much room there is)

Its 100 degrees out and I have no problem with the amp overheating or going into protect mode.
Of note I've never had a problem with a hidden amp overheating. The secret is to not buy cheap garbage.

1999 CLK320 (sold), 2007 C230 SS (gone), 2000 Grand Marquis, 2011 CR-Z, stay tuned...
OP, I would try to mount the sub itself into the stock sub housing. I think, from what I've read, you can fit an 8in sub in there. As for the amp, you can try to either mount it in the other side of the rear deck, or just bolt it to the back of the rear seat... yes, it's in the trunk, but it gives it room to breath, and it's pretty slim. My amp is on the back of my seat, but then again, I'm not worried about trunk space.
^^^Probably not your best option space-wise.
