Thanks for looking into this, btw.
Tommy,
Sorry to hear this about your cluster. I still need to take care of mine.

Oh, don't cry for me, Argentina. It's about 97% good - just a little around the edges that is fuzzy. For $100, I'd pop for a new one to get it to perfect, but I could live with this one happily for several years (and by then, I'll be moved on to the next car probably anyway - I'm lurking on first gen Z4 forums, looking to pick up an M roadster in a year or two).

Hopefully, this new supplier will fix your problem.

Address/phone of supplier?

Does anyone have the name, address, phone of the Euro supplier of these screens? I would rather just order now, instead of waiting for a group buy. Thanks!

No. I have not release any information out yet, in fear of it failing and hence the finger pointing. Also, I do not want to waste anyone's money for buying this and yet having it fail. I had ask what is a good testing period before this release.

Someone suggested 1 month. It's day 3 right now. So Sept 1st?

As for the Group Buy, it doesn't really matter to me, since I did have the fix and no way hoping that it fails. If it reach the time for a group buy, then I believe it has met it's trials.

Okay.. Here is the final cost for me after looking at my credit card bill.
$143.54 (Merchandise shipped) + 3.88(foreign exchange fee) = $147.42. So far, I guess it's worth it compare to sending the whole cluster over sea to fix and bring back.

The price above is for 1 piece and is the most highest cost. Well, I guess that depends on exchange rate as well.

It might make sense to have more than one test mule, as one success or one failure is not statistically significant. For example, some people had no problem with the Sacer/Chinese screens, but a large percentage (nearing 50%) did not work correctly. If there had only been one tester, and he received one of the good screens, the result (hundreds of us ordering from Sacer) would have been a mess. IMO, we really need at least five (and, preferably, ten) testers of these Euro screens to draw any sort of conclusions. I am willing to be one of the test subjects. If you want to PM me the info, I will order one and report back as to my results.

I certainly will not blame anyone if it does not work out (just as I did not blame Rodney when the Sacer/Chinese screen which I purchased from him was defective). Quite the opposite, actually, I remain very thankful to Rodney (and you) for putting the time and effort in to try to solve this very annoying problem with the W203 LCD screens.

Cheers!

Alright. I have 5 test subjects now. I hope they will post some of their reviews about this product. It's pretty wide spread now with different parts of the world.

Okay. Here it goes. Another update. Everything is still working like it was on the first day I turned it on. No hickups, flicker or any sign there is a problem.

It's 4 days since install. 106 miles on the screen.

Here's the picture. It's a sunny day with partly cloudy. Breezy. 66 Degrees taken at 4:49pm.

It's only 5 days since I installed it. You think it's ready? Well, you guys tell me. As far with the group buy, if there is enough people on the list or a prelist, I guess it can be done.

Well, that is all up to the other buddies who wants this fix. Post to start a list.

Ordered it!

I Paypaled mine this morning. Easy transaction once I figured out that "United States" in Italian is "Stati Uniti" (so as to change the Paypal payment form into English). I will post when I receive it.

The problem with a group buy at this stage is that, if the screens turn out to have a large percentage of defectives, the guy who coordinated the group buy gets screwed (just ask Rodney). I think that we are going about things the right way. . . lets get a good group of individual-buy test mules (the more, the better), keep tabs on progress, and arrive at conclusions in a month or so.

FYI, if there is a problem, it will likely be with my car (black, no sunroof, and my A/C needs a recharge). We usually hit a few days of triple digits in August, so that will be a good test.

Just my .02

+1. I agree. Hmmz.. so I guess I got the right test subject on board here.

Yes, please refrain yourself from leaking the info on the supplier. Don't want this to get out of hand. Although, I know a lot of people are very intersted in fixing this annoying issue. As you can see, I was pretty much uncomfortable giving out the supplier without fully test this item.

For those 5 choosen test subjects / mules, please refrain yourself from leaking the info out. It's for the good for the whole forumn community.

Well, it's day 6 for me since install. I guess as soon as I hit 1 month, I give a full report if this should be a go or not. It's still running good as it suppose to.

I can take 5 more test subjects and is open for now.

Tsk.. tsk... please refrain leaking info. Just say European should be fine. Just teasing.

I didn't have issues with paypal. As that is what I used. Didn't want to give my credit card to international transaction. Had Paypal as the middle person and used my credit card to fund it. Some how paypal paid euros and my credit card charged a foreign exchange fee. Wasn't that bad, just about 4 bucks or so.

Alright, 6 test subjects now. I can take 4 more. Someone from south america or better yet SA would work too. Glyn? Do you need to change out your screen?

Here we go again. Another update. Still running strong.

It's 6 days since install. 141 miles on the screen.

It's a cloudy day today with wind blowing. 66 degree taken at 4:49pm.

Hmmz.. this is odd, I taken a picture at the same time 2 days ago.

Any chance you can get somewhere hotter? Just kidding, of course. We'll have to see about some of the other testers in hotter locations. Mine's usually OK at 66, but not visible at 80.

I live in the desert and it's over 100 regularly right now. In the process of exchanging emails/paying for the display presently. I'll post when I get it and install.

My display is fading around the edges, but only over 90 degrees. If I turn the A/C on it goes back to normal once it's cool inside the cabin. This display was replaced under warranty ~3 years ago.

Here we go again, another update.

It's 8 days since install. 229 miles on the screen.

Here's the picture. It's a sunny day. 77 Degrees taken at 1:19pm.

Since the sun was in full force today, there is glare while I took the picture.
