[OEM] Navigation [US vs Euro] Spec **I want DVD-in-Motion**

So.. while in china.. I've noticed a lot of people drive while watching DVDs.
I know it's not safe. But it just seems cool. It'll be a distraction; I admit,
but whatever: It's a mod I want, and it's what really matters in the end; right?

So I got back into reading which W203 Navigation would allow DVD-in-Motion.

I've read about:

Pre-2005
Post-2005
APS (euro spec??)
Euro Spec
US Spec
MCSII (US spec)
Command
G-class (has back up camera capability, if you're in reverse it'll show a black screen if you don't have the camera installed)

All these different names for Navigation.
So... I am confused as hell. Want to know what's up. And I have nothing to do at the current moment.
(It's 4:33am in Zhuhai, China)

I've STFF, and am just getting more confused between all the possible options.

I've come to a few basic conclucions.

Euro-Spec "allows" dvd-in-motion.
-Requires a plug-in like this one:
http://www.nav.tv/category/7/72/145

-Requires a modified 'hybrid' Navigation DVD:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...highlight=navi

-Only has 1 slot, which is taken up by the Navigation DVD...

US-Spec "does not allow" dvd-in-motion
-all it requires is the proper year Navi DVD
-But only models above 2006 will allow MP3 capability

So.. what I really want is.. someone to clarify everything.

Here's what I want:

OEM
DVD-In-Motion
Most updated Navigation
Part Numbers

Thanks guys

A SmartTV module from mods4cars is $189, and will allow what you want with your current setup. Something to think about.

So which exact model (navigation system) would be best for video in-motion as of now? The year 2010.

So what i'd really like to know now after further research:

Will the US-spec 2006+ MCSII system support video-in-motion with the module?

It seems the US-spec has a few features I would like:

SD card capable?
Separate Nav DVD and CD drive. (Does this mean I can put a dvd in the cd-drive?)
Will it affect the aux-in plug in the passenger side? (I mean, when I install the MCSII all I'd have to do is plug the same wires back in as it should be a direct plug and play?)
Nifty rolling feature

A part number with a name of the system is what I'm looking for =]
And which Nav disc I should be using currently
And the exact module that will allow the us-spec to play video-in-motion

Thanks for letting me know about the additional cheaper module that will allow video-in-motion

I currently don't have any OEM nav. system =(
I want to make the best choice per what I want.

Thanks for this tip,

Is this mod applicable to a US NTG-1 Command W211.026 2006 Eclass with factory NAV, DVD in trunk, CDC Changer?

I would love to have VIM on a US Spec Command, but I have seen no signs of this being able to happen.

Cheers again for any tips.

Have you performed this mod, I do not know all the codes on your signature. If I buy the Euro Command (I am off to Europe in 3 weeks so I will try in person) do I not need the dual command processor in the trunk as well as the DVD based Euro command head unit? Yes, I could sell my command here on ebay.

How bad is the making of the Hybrid DVD to make NAFTA maps work on the Euro Head unit? Also the AM stations, and other negatives? Thanks much for the insight.

PS What hare Euro Door Pins?

I spoke with them, and they told me this device would only work after I have a working euro command with DVD player, and not with US factory setup unfortunately.

for the Navi's W203/W209 and G wagons The "Media Gateway" which is what your refering to is built into the head unit so it does not require a seperate system, however The W211's and so forth have a seperate system which does need the gateway (MOST System) If you read the Euro to USA guide as far as the map disk isn't that hard...

Thanks for that, so yes, I do have an 06 211, so I need both head unit and gateway (most system) found in the trunk replaced unfortunately.
