Was going to try to do this service, but chickened out. Will do it when the vehicle is out of warranty.

In the meantime, took the car to the dealer to do this service, and they told me that draining the torque converter is impossible to do without taking out the transmission, and regardless is not part of the service according to WIS. Only thing additional they did besides dropping the pan is they disconnected the lines and flushed those with a hand pump.

The thing that caught my eye is that they only charged 6 liters of oil for the change.

Are there updated files on WIS regarding the transmssion fluid change procedure? and draining the torque converter as part of the service?

Thats a load of crap, to drain the TC, you just have to turn the crankshaft bolt with a 36mm socket until the TC plug is accessible via the small hatch (covered with a rubber plug) at the bottom of the bell housing.

it's the main benz dealer in vancouver. frustrating to talk to these so called service advisers/managers.

they just kept saying that according to WIS, they did the procedure properly. When I told them that I specifically want to have the torque converter drained, that's when he came back with the "torque converter can never be drained unless the transmission is replaced"

I previously emailed mercedes customer service and asked them how much fluid should go into a transmission during a flush. they replied with brand new tranny takes 9 liters, but on a flush takes about 8.5. and customer will get charged for 8.

when shown this email, they replied with, well, we don't really know how much actual fluid goes in, we just charge what WIS says to charge. As if benz will actually let customers have 2 free liters of oil on every transmission flush.

Now another customer service from mercedes back tracks and says 8 is for a dry transmission.

I wonder if the transmission is slightly different on a GL. If you crawl under the car, and that big hole is there with a access panel, then it should be the same?

Have them show me the WIS. The filling machine show hom much goes in. The ATF is circulated and brough up to temp., then excess is drained. It's all in the WIS. Consider going to another dealer.

Could anyone tell me what kind of pump did you guys use to pump the oil into the transmission?
I watched the Aussie guy's video, awesome, however I have no access to a compressor of any kind.

I used this with the proper 722.9 adapter, some extra hose, Few clamps and a pair of vice grips (with tubing on contact area) as i couldn't find a nice valve for under $20. If you want pictures let me know.

You can buy any garden or pressure sprayer system that draws fluid from the bottom I would recommend a 1-2 gallon size. Also I had 1 1/2 quarts of new left over fluid from my 722.6 so I ran that through the sprayer to make sure it was clean. Don't want any contaminates in the transmission lol

Some good stuff going on here. I have lurking through this forum for quite some time and now I am confident that I can do this on my 04 E500. I bought the car not too long ago and I dont have any history of the transmission getting serviced. I wanted to bring up the usual question that has been asked a number of times but I will still put it out. The car currently has 116K on it, would you guys recommend changing the fluid and filter or is it too late now? I think it shouldn't be a problem but I will like to get some suggestions before I start.

I'm a tad confused... bought a used C300 4Matic 2010 from a Mercedes dealer here in Canada. Car now as roughly 120000km now. The transmission job (whatever that means) was done prior to me getting it. Should I still get the oil change? If so, where indi garage or dealer?

If anyone needs some Mercedes ATF 134 fluid, I have 7 brand new bottles of it I'm trying to sell.

I have my 2011 in for service right now at Chambers in Boston. They also said that the TC can't be drained unless the transmission was removed. I thought I was getting a great deal at the advertised price of $299 but, alas, no great deal. Instead it seems the dealer is changing 2/3 of the fluid and saving at most 30 minutes?
Maybe that year/model has the transmission 722.93?

I did this service on my 2012 GL 350 this weekend; easy and straightforward. I do want to mention that I used a Mityvac transmission adapter rather than the Assenmacher version, and they sell on Amazon for only $16 rather than the $40+ for the tool noted in the attached PDF. It worked just as it should and saved a few $$'s.

Thanks to OP and all subsequent posters for so much info on the procedure. I just used my Fluke multimeter to do the temperature on the pan and it worked fine. I found an eBay seller that had the genuine MB 314FE fluid for a reasonable price.

In my '07 E350/722.9 the crank pulley takes a 27mm socket. Sadly I do NOT have a drain plug, so I'm now trying to figure out the flow direction of the oil lines to the radiator so I can flush it 722.6 style. The online Mercedes EPC isn't very helpful on that score. Anybody know if the driver's side line is still from transmission to radiator and the passenger's side oil line is the return from radiator to transmission/torque converter?

What oil I must put in my 7-g tronic. I buy Titan 7134 which is 236,15, but the my gearbox is from the older 7-g tronic. Can I change with 236,15 or buy 236,14.
