Anyone know the Price for a new 2005 M.B. C240 4matic programmed key fob clicker and metal key built into the fob? Not sure what the going rate is in CT?

I lost a smart key to one of my cars and my indi shop got it for me and charged me about $300+ tax. If you can aviod the dealer do that and find a indi shop. They can get keys to.

From what I understand, you can no longer get them from aftermarket re-sellers. It is considered a security item so it must be obtained from the dealer after you provide proof of ownership of the car. They order it from Texas, where they program it to your specific car, and you get it the next day.

It was a fairly recent change in MB policy. It was deemed a security item, so it has to go thru the dealer for security reasons, or so I am told. This applies to any "security" item on the car.
