Question c320 Headlight and Mirror Switch not WORKING

Hi,

I'm new to the forum-I use the search button and my eyes are hurting like hell-couldn't find anything on this issue.

1. My 01 c320's mirror adjustment switch is not working at ALL.

2. My headlight lights ONLY work when the switch knob is turned to the LAST position to the RIGHT. ALL other positions turn no light on-headlights or fog lights.

I'm hoping its the whole light/mirror assembly that is wrong and I only need to buy that. I found one on EBAY-contacted the seller and he said it is in working condition. But is has the headlights washing switch-I don't have that installed on my c320. Will this light/mirror assembly still work?

Dan, the foglights will only work with the knob all of the way to the far right, so that's normal.

You might want to do this, which will avoid replacing the light switch. Turn your lights to "Constant On" in the menu on the gauge display (using the buttons on the steering wheel, it's in the manual [as is how to operate the fogs, too]). This will give you daytime running lights during the day, and automatically turn on your headlights at night. You'll only need to use the switch to turn on the fogs. If you turn the lights to "Constant On", and they still don't work, you'll have to have the system looked at.

That switch will probably work; Benz generally allows enough room for every option on even the base cars, so while that button will do nothing, it should not interfere with basic operations.

On the mirror switch, read the manual to confirm that you're doing it right, and don't have some weird override on the functionality of the mirrors. My guess is that the switch or the wiring is at fault.

Finally, realize that you have a 2001 C class, and that you'll probably keep running into issues with it; took MB a while to work out most of the kinks.

All the switches are interchangeable. Are you quite sure all fuses etc are OK? 2001 were troublesome cars but I have never ever known the rotary light switch to fail on a W203. I would worry it's a fuse or a SAM problem

Thanks for the response,

I will TRY the "Constant On"

1. Fog light don't work-I pull out the switch and nothing. ONLY headlights work when knob turned all the way to the right.

2. I don't know much about fuse's. Can you tell me which and where the fuse is located.

Thanks
-Dan

Definitely check the fuses first, then.

I'd be very surprised if the problem were the switch itself; even for Mercedes, it's a pretty error-free assembly. The wiring, however, on 2001-02 C Classes, is far from it.
