LED City Lights + DDM's = success, plus question flicker?
2 cars: my buddy's 04 c320, my wife's 07 c230
had 2 DDM sets, 6k and 8k, both 35w, no error cancellors or xenon=present coding
had two sets of LED city lights, 7000k GP Thunder, found at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ht_2177wt_1167
^cheap, gets the job done, over 5 diodes seems to be overkill
anyway, he has DEPO projector and went with 6K
wife has stock halogens, she 8k
both for easy install and both look phenomenal, minus the halogens needed to be aimed down a titch.
just wanted to say the 6k projectors matched the 7k LEDs as good as it gets, highly recommended combo.
wife's halogens were bright as hell and spraying light eveywhere! but that said, they too looked great, and also matched the LED very well. the *slight* contrast actually was a nice compliment. aside from startup before the bulbs were warm and the respetive color of the bulbs showed better, after a few minutes, the colors were almost indistinguishable. I dont know HOW people make such a fuss about the 8k being soooo much bluer and ricey, couldnt be further form the truth. very white indeed. 6k was probably a closer match (the proj lenses may have had something to do with it) to the city lights IMO.
Pics to come, but as yyou all know by now, night shots of lighting does the actual color or brightness absolutely no justice whatsoever. so, this is just a recommendation.
Her car, no flicker, no codes.
His car, we believe some flicker?? sometimes a headlight would hesitate to fire up at startup, throwing a code... and also at startup a very very very brief and very very fast flicker occurs. i was picturing the flicker everyone speaks of as a distinguised off and on of the light.
also when the car at a stop, a slight flicker, akin to a look as if the car engine was shaking the lights a bit. are these symptoms the infmaous flicker?
does he need error eliminators and the xenon=present or will one or the other suffice?

One or the other should suffice. And all of the W203s seem to have their own personalities. It's kind of endearing how different they can be.

The flickering issue can be solved with Mercedes Star. The car has an option where you can set Xenons on. This fixes the flickering, I did this for couple of the members and it fixed their problem.

No shiat.
They told me they charge for a 1/2 hour of labor.
First guy said itd take about 30 min (after he corrected me that it would take longer than 5 min, as I suggested it would take)
Second guy said it was a 1.5-2 hour process.

i oughtta take your pics to the service writer and ask him to show me why that takes longer than 5 minutes.

I had this done at MB dealer about a week ago and they charged me $57 (about half hour labor). Guess what, the technician didn't know the exact sequence of sub-menus. I logged on to mbworld and showed Karo's screen shots. The technician took my laptop up to the car and completed the job in about 10 minutes...

lol ya the dealers aren't experts guys just cuz they sell the car! took them 8 days to solve a check engine light on my car after replacing 4 different items before fixing the correct item.
And yea i was also charged $50 for changing xenon=present setting

That fast flicker can be due to the ballast. I put DDM 55W on my girlfriends rsx and it does it on one headlight. It's progressively gotten worse, and now flickers like that all the time. It's a little annoying but it's fast enough that you can hardly tell it's happening most of the time. My suggestion is take advantage of the warranty and have them send you another one.
If its a slower flicker where it's turning off and on at a constant rate, then that's usually due to low voltage source or bad ground.

only with a error cancellor put inline (resistor)...my hid fogs from vvme were throwing bulb out message and turning on and off infrequently. Plus i have the xenon present setting already turned on for my oem bixenon. so i ordered the error cancellors from ddm tuning for $15 and they fixed the problem. No bulb out messge and they stay on now!
