C320 coupe
what are you trying to get from this exhaust? looks? sounds? or both? + are you willing to lose back pressure if you straight pipe it...

For what you're looking for, delete the secondary cats, resonator, and slap on an eisenmann race exhaust. Or any exhaust that you like, as the eisenmann is a hefty price.
Basically, from the headers, you have primary cats>secondary cats>resonator>muffler. If short on money, or you want a mild setup, just change the muffler. Then, you'll have minimal drone on the highway, and still have a throaty sound when you gas it. Then work up, if you want it louder and droned out, delete the resonator, secondary cats, but not the primaries.
Search around, as many have done exhaust work around here.

yes i have searched around, i m just hoping i dont have to change my muffler as its quite nice looking.. hah
its Amg, i bought it like this for the 2007 sport package
so i was hoping i can just delete something? and make the sound deeper and louder
would that be the resonator?
and if so would i void warranty?

Glad to see this topic up here.
What kind of 'mild/cheap setup' exhaust would you guys recommend for a 04 C240 4-Matic? I just want a slightly better look than stock as well as a more 'throaty' sound when I gas it.
Not trying to spend a fortune, just want to get rid of those ugly curved down pipes and get a bit of better sound out of the exhaust.
Haven't found much info searching on this for a C240.

Resonator deletes aren't very noticeable, but the difference is still there. 40 dollars give or take can get the job done. Seems like what you are after.
The second guy who wants new tips, either get some custom ones from a shop and weld them onto a new muffler, or buy a new muffler that incorporates a new tip. Look into magnaflow, remus, eissenman, and the like.

rofl. what kind of people do you hang around? I know people who have driven their "project cars" around for weeks with just a downpipe. The cops aren't going to hassle you for a missing cat and plus we are talking about resonators.

2005 320 4Matic
Is this a repeat of the other straight-pipe thread?

you should def delete your second cats...if emissions isnt an issue most of the time u could pass inspection, it gives a real good sound. delete the resonator would be a good idea but if u dont like drone on the highway keep it on. in place of the resonator put an x pipe so u have the free flow and backpressure
