DDM 55W HID flickering and turning off...
Just installed the 55W DDM kit and when i try to drive, the lights start to flicker and then turn off (errors on the dash). i did not go with the eliminators. However, I have been using a DDM HID kit for over 3 years without any of these symptoms or eliminators, so Im not sure what's going on. Could the ballsts be different now and cannot manage the voltage properly? Should I order the eliminators, go to the dealer for xenon=present, or both? I have no lights at this point so i need to fix this ASAP. thanks in advance!!!

Hit or miss, some cars don't have this issue and some do.

My friend was able to get them down to $45 to do it. Not free, but cheaper than an actual half hour's labor.
Ended up paying $48 total, which included a new ATF cap and 6 oz of tranny fluid.

What was the solution? I was at the mb deler today to check if xenon was set as percent but they couldn't find it in the star diagnostic. I have exactly same problem but original xenon headlights. Bought new ballasts changed em, same problem. Then tested old and new ballast on battery, all 4 worked. checked battery and wiering. Nothing there either.

A cheap and quick workaround is to have resistors installed inline on the harness. It circumvents the need to set Xenon = Present by tricking the computer into thinking the halogen bulbs are present and not blown out.

If you need to show them how to do it, see Post# 1194 in this thread for instructions on setting Xenon = Present.
