Yeah, It's got a HEMI
After fighting MB for soo long on fixing stuff like my transmission, and the oil burning problem, I decided to just trade it a move on to something more reliable. I was supposed to bring the car in again Monday for yet another oil consumption test (the 4th) and I decided I just don't have time for this car. Because of all the continuous problems, I was never able to do any mods or really enjoy the car. So it has been replaced with a new bike hauling machine. What a sweet engine. Just think if MB put this in a car... 345HP, 375lb-ft torque, and silky smooth.

The color is Patriot Blue. The dog is Heidi...She is really a doberman, but looks small because the truck is so big
It is actually hard to give up the ride and handling of the coupe, but I didn't have the time or energy to deal with a lemon law case.

The dealer will probably fix the problem now that they own it. They'll find a way to make sure warranty covers it. Or if their service is that bad, maybe they'll just sell it as is and screw the next owner with an oil-burning car.

hemi
I laugh at the mythology that has built up about an ultra low-tech American engine design from the 1950s - the HEMI! Woo-hoo, it has a hemi!
So what...every Peugeot bar none from 1947 through 1979 also had a hemi, but many of them had a higher specific power output than the US hemis, even the one in your 300+ HP truck now. And that with - for the most part - single barrel Solex carbs
, not state of the art electronic fuel injection :p
Nearly every 4 valve per cylinder design is a hemi too, but because these engines have some slightly more advanced features and engineering finesse than a Chrysler hemi, they don't have to brag about the "hemi" thing
So does the truck say "radial tuned suspension" on the side of the fenders, "rugged ladder frame" on the tailgate and "front disc brakes" on the door handles too? ![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Anyway, I'm glad your headache over the oil consumption is gone.

Sure but a Peugeot hemi would never race because it's french, it's against racing and would convince cars made in other countries not to race but American hemis and British cars would still race despite the heavy opposition led by the french.... :p

Using your analogy, I suppose the "formiddable" British and US opposition they've been facing in the WRC (a.k.a. Ford) must have been attenuated somewhat by in-fighting between the US and UK team managers. Shall we call these problems "friendly fire" incidents?

Just because I know you have an Enquiring Mind, and Enquiring Minds Want To Know:
The 1912 Peugeot L76 was the first car in the world with: a four cylinder engine with dual overhead camshafts, 4 valves per cylinder, hemi head with central spark plug location, dry sump oiling system and 4 wheel brakes.
You're welcome. :p

Matt, I traded it at the Dodge dealer, so some wholesaler will end up with it. But unfortunately, some customer will eventually buy it retail. Hopefully, the MB rep for this area will have changed by then and it will get fixed. My problem was never with the dealer, it was always the MB rep who would not approve the repairs. So I was fighting MB and you can't win that fight without lawyers.
I'm sure I'll hang around this board since it is truly one of the most entertaining ones around. I could kick myself for forgetting to take the AMG sways off before I traded it. But I did put the stock radio back in, so I have a Metra dash kit if anyone needs it.

If you want to see high specific power in a production engine, get a run-of-the-mill 600cc Jap sportbike. Pretty close to 200 hp/liter now. But...no torque to speak of, and of course they turn 15,000 rpm to get that kind of power. High specific power says nothing about torque- which is what everyone really feels when they step on the gas at a stoplight. It is a lot easier to get high specific power out of a 4cyl engine since it can turn much higher rpms than a V-8 production engine, but they are not very well suited to trucks. Lots of companies have made hemi's, but Chrysler made them famous from drag and stock car racing. The HEMI thing now is capitalizing on that heritage. It really is quite an excellent engine from all accounts I've seen even if it isn't made by Peugeot. I have high hopes it will use less oil than my exotic european import

Hooray, enjoy the truck.
This my last lemon law case. It's been over a year now. If the coupe had not lost so much value, I would have done the same thing.
