Whenever I order some stuff online, if I need to get to like
$50 for free shipping, I add a couple oil filters, or air filter etc.
I have some Bosch, Mann, and hengst, and they are all just fine,
and not over 10 bucks.
I think the bosch were like 7.

I switched to OEM on my CRX a couple of years back after some similar horror stories with aftermarket Honda oil filters as well.
Don't forget new OEM crush washers as well if you're doing your oil the old-fashioned way (though I really have no idea why you would on a Benz).

Wow, brutal! I've always known the orange can filters to be crap, now it looks like the cartridges are too.
The construction looks similar to the Mann filter, with the element glued to the end caps which are made of some sort of fiber substance. However I've never had a Mann split apart like that.

Those belly pans are just so annoying.
97W202 - the crush washers are the washers that go between the oil drain bolt and the oilpan. They should be replaced every time, if you're going to drain the oil that way.

Another reason why you should be removing your oil with a topsider.

I don't know why anyone would use a paper filter in an FSS Model
or change their oil at 3000 miles either

Yup. Used the wrong oil i thought the name was pretty on the bottle. I noticed oil leaking out of the oil pan and a few other seals that ive never seen oil b4. Like around the oil filter housing. Changed the oil back to what ive been using 0w-40 and no issues with leaking so far. If our oil was cheap i would change it every 3k miles or less just because of the way i drive.
