change oil in san jose

hello everyone,
i'm trying to find a good place to get a oil change in san jose, i called skips's tires and they told me it will cost me $170 for a oil change. I guess they think i'm rich since i live in san jose or something. Good year wants $130 and couple more places wants the same, is that fair enough?

Max 80 bucks for oil and max 20 bucks for filter - 100 bucks for parts. 170 is a rip off, 130 is ok but I would make sure they use a fleece filter and use correct amount of oil (9 liters) with Mobil1 0-40 European Formula

No offense but ask most people around here and they'll tell you that dealers are not a piece of mind. You know how many times they screwed over people and their cars and didn't take fault for it.

A piece of mind is you doing it yourself with members posting up DIYs or WIS documents

Immediately before I bought my '07 C280, it was serviced by MB dealer. Few days after I picked up the car from the seller, I noticed oil stain on the floor. I opened the plastic panel under the car to investigate where the oil was leaking. Oil was leaking from the drain plug. The drain plug was loose; I was able to turn the drain plug with my hand. I couldn't believe it. I called the seller and he said the oil change was done at the dealer. I am guessing that the technician forgot to tighten the drain bolt.

My suggestion to you is do the oil changes yourself.
If you are not comfortable getting under the car and draining the oil via drain plug, you can buy one of those suction pumps (amazon has for around $70).

Uh, if you haven't already been, go to any of Dinan's locations for
a FREE oil change. I had mine done in Campbell and watched in amazement as they
used a Mann filter and 7 quarts of 0-40w Mobil 1.
Just say you saw the ad in the paper. They won't ask for the coupon, but it's
also on the website.
They are hoping to get MB repair biz.

My GF went to the one in Morgan Hill, right down the street from where I work.
And free, yes!
They make performance BMW parts on the premises. Ah, no one like that for us around.

Jerry, hope you see this, you'll be glad you did!

I usually do my own as well, and also don't trust the mechanics.
Smyth used to break as much stuff as they fixed each time I went.

My GF had her ML done not 1 month ago.
I had mine done about a year ago, you get one shot.
I think they might frown on attempts at a 2nd round without buying
anything.
I didn't have the nuts to try.
Last oild change did myself, but my drill ran out of juice
4 quarts into the process, and I ended up leaving 2 quarts of old oil in.
And the oil was Valvoline full synth but not approved, so do it again
in a few months.
