E-brake bracket...under rear bench seat

DOes anyone have any idea how to replace that bracket?
I took the seat off, and found access to it. But the two visible bolts dont come off it seem that they spin through. I looked from below, i coulnd find any accesss either...Do i need to get into the both tanks for that?
Any info would be appreciated!

Thans Glyn, but that doesnt help me. I got the two bolts 3/4 out but they started to spin and i cant find a way of fixing them to stop turning. On th other hand een if i got them out i am not sure how i would get the third one which is on the left side where the cale goes tothe pedal ( on this diagram)
ANyone knows what is the trick here?

The spring ( white) snapped and the lever is rusted to the point of no motion.
SO i want to take the whole bracket out ( yellow asterick), cause thats the only way to replace this mechanism.
there are three bolts ( blue, two shown and one, the same one that holds the cover late on)
I got the two that are shown 3/4 out and now it seems they are just rotating.
So going back i need to get the entire bracket out. How is the question.

These 3...Glyn this is from your earlier post about the gas tanks...but it seems that the two bolts go to gas tank corners and i am not sure about the third one

I have searched & I don't have the R&R method.

PM Karo & ask him to give you what he left out of this string of posts. He has posted everything but what you need from the WIS. Johnand also has a WIS handy. Mine is not loaded at this time.

I'm no expert but it looks like it's part of the gas tank

I checked at the link Glyn posted and that's all the documents that are related to the E-Brake. So then I checked in the gas tank section and here it was which I have a feeling you have to remove the gas tank. Let me know if this is correct if not i'll be happy to look some more about it.

i think thats exactly where it heading...i also emailed the other guy who posted about this earlier this year...trying to see what he did about it. i mean i dont neet replace the whole bracket just the lever and the spring, perpahs i can heat it up and try to remove the hex at the tip of the lever? otherwise it looks like an expensive trip to the dealership ( any idea what might be the magic number$ FOR A JOB LIKE THIS?

No clue about price but if gas tank has to really be removed then it doesn't look too good for your wallet.

If I were you I would carry a brick in my trunk and use that as the Ebrake (no seriously)

eesjunin, I didn't know that parking brake is one of the things that gets checked during the state inspection in MA. For NH state inspection (for both of my cars), they didn't check the parking brake; I was standing next to my car entire time they did the checking.

Since there's no light/LED on the dash for non-performing parking brake, take the car to the state inspection without fixing it and see if that gets flagged. Sorry, I can't be much help in this regard.

So after i broke a bolt extractor and a hammered in Torx bit, while spending 3 hours doing that. I end up using cut off wheels to cut of the lever at the bolt. Then cut the bolt in two places in the middle and close to the top bracket. Hammer the top of the bolt out. Heat up the bottom section of the bolt and the bolt came out with easy use of pliers. Sanded down all the surfaces int he bracket, painted with the anti rust paint. Replaced with the new bracket, bolt etc. 40 minutes total.

excellent, you were able to replace that bracket without having to drop the fuel tank. Now I know who to go to if I have to replace that bracket in the future on either of my cars :-)

If you haven't already ordered Mobil1 0W-40 at advanceautoparts, order some before they run out. Good price $3.99 a quart. Lowell stores have less than 12 left.

PCY,
eah it was a breeze...i didnt replace the whole bracket just that lever, the bracket really doesnt have to be replace...i am still puzzled why they sell the whole assembly and not just the lever...weird...My advice lift the rear bench up and lube it before and after the winter...its because of the rusting my lever spring broke...

3.99 a quart? no way! i just did an oil change too! wtf? going to stop by tonight and empty their shelves
going to do my rear brakes this weekend...inspection due tomorrow and the sensor went off this morning...figures! But got me a new set of pads...free...he he...since i bought my last set in 2007 with lifetime warranty...YAY!
