Short and Simple K&N

Short and Simple....

Car was starving for air on the dyno.
Was loosing 10whp
Gave the K&N a shot and I noticed a significant different.
Won't really know how much I gained ever.
Paid $87.00 dollars out the door.
Car use to squeak off the line but now breaks traction (but I might have gained down low but lost more up top).
Haven't done a freeway run to see how up top is.

Honest opinion is if your car is tuned then you might benefit from a higher flowing filter but if your car is stock then it might not do much or even anything.

Just hope it doesn't kill my MAF

Hmmm If i can spin the tires very easy.. You should be able to do it no prob in your 350

I was scared of getting those filters.. did you ever think about greens?

Also ppl leave the filters out for a bit to dry them out

maf sensors only go bad if you over oil the filter. excess oil will damage the sensor.

I look forward to the sprintbooster-type debate that will now appear on this thread.

I just replaced my green filter (completely disintegrated in the housing somehow) with a K&N, which didn't feel over-oiled. Then Sunday, I replaced the MAF, which had been throwing codes, probably because the green filter had been dead a while. So it'll be interesting to see if the MAF throws the code again (P0712) after a while, due to the K&N.

The answer is simple - register your filters with K&N.If/when the MAF throws a code get a copy of the repair report and the bad maf contact K&N and let them fight with the service shop.Check the website for the details.I just got my K&N's for my ML320CDI.If anything goes haywire I'll be in contact with K&N.I've been using their products for over 20 years with ZERO problems.

I had k&n for 3yrs without any problems. They come over oiled from the factory. I just took a paper towel and soaked up the excess oil before I put them in.

OK, I'll bite I don't know why anyone would take the chance of putting in an aftermarket part that 'might' be harmful when the stock part does the job without doubt.

What's the fun in that?

1) I was curious about the oiling issue; I've had a CAI w/a K&N in my crx for about 8 years now without problem

2) I do like being able to use it again and again, since I've already got the oil and cleaner for my CAI

3) Since my car is about as modded as you can get for the C230 without going to internals, I figured it might benefit my car's breathing a bit

4) With so many people here whining about it, I figure it must be ok

OK, I'll buy that reason I used them on non MAF cars and motorcycles for years.

I've had it on for over a year now and just cleaned and re-oiled it about a month or so ago and still no problem with the MAF....you dont need that much oil...i recommend buying the spray on version, makes it much easier to not over spray. Then all yu need to do is coat the exterior lightly.
