Just ordered my Moda rim for the spare - had to order a set of RPF1s for the CRX anyway, so threw that into the order.

I looked at the wheelwell last night, and can't see how a full-size rim with tire will fit in there without doing some cutting of the heavy duty plastic there.

What am I missing?

I am pretty sure coupe wheel wells are smaller then sedans. Thats what it looks like atleast. The stock spare out of my sedan is a lot bigger then my coupes also so it would make sense if it is smaller.

Maybe you can heat up the plastic and reform it. Can you take pics of the spare wheel well

Hey Phi, did you install the BC Racing coilovers yourself or did you have a shop do it for you?

Thanks - that's the only logic that makes sense to me about the issue. I'll post up a pic of my coupe's space back there.

EDIT: Did a search, and found a couple of mentions about the difference in the sizes of the rear tub areas. I'll have to see if the tub can be expanded or cut to fit the larger full-size rim and tire. Otherwise, I'll do the opposite of what I do now (spare in spare well, all of my other crap in a plastic box in the hatch), and put the crap underneath in the spare tire area with the spare lying on top; I've got some velcro straps I could fashion into a safer way to make sure the spare doesn't move, I guess. What a PITA. No, Matt, this doesn't mean that keeping things stock is better. :p

Use the velcro or drill a hole in the middle of the floor board and fashion a bolt on the underside and a hat and lug on the top to hold it in place. Kind of like how the spare well is designed.

That or get like a swinging spare wheel holder like on jeeps and mock it up where you put the swing arm part towards the backseat and have the arm attached to the floor board so you can just swing up the spare wheel to get to the underside lol I like to get creative with projects haha.. you can even attach hood dampeners to the arm or underside so it'll just push up with ease. Or just get hood dampeners and attach to the underside and just strap the wheel down with velcro to save some money lol

Got the lug nuts last night, gracias!

There are D rings on either side, which I could use for the straps. I'll fashion something out eventually.

no prob tommy, always glad to help a fellow member. what size RPF1 did you get for the crx? i was contemplating getting those as a spare but offset is too high. I really want an old school BBS 16" spare.

Heres a one off custom one a guy did awhile back on a bimmer forum.

15x7, +41, 9.3 lbs.

Tirerack's having a "sale" on them right now, so saved $12 a rim or so, not a big amount, but I'll take it. Should be waiting for me tonight or tomorrow.

A 300SL Gullwing would be a nice little project.

AE-86 is always a nice, reasonable starter.

I was looking into doing a datsun 510 pickup with a SR20 or F22C swap. I also like the old school Mazda 323 hatchback with the bugeye or a Datsun 240z/260z

I love this 323

I'd need a different DD then while I do that swap... If I can find a good running beater, I'd save up to do that swap.

If you go to mymercedesparts.com they list all the parts and have illustrations of all the parts.

So where are the pics of the custom spare tire tub with alcantara?

Think I've decided to have my Moda spare powdercoated in something interesting, and mount it to the floor of the hatch area, above the original spare tire area, with my other crap down there.

Sorry I had other house projects I had to work on first. I have it all mocked up and ready to go, also decided to build some custom drawers attached to my sub box to hold things so it took longer.

just ordered a new toy for the car! next on list is get 3.5 " outer lip replacements from CCW to push the rears to 10.5 and remove the 5mm spacer so I'll be at 18x10.5 +20. also got some DEI gold foil to line my intake and other parts of the engine bay. I switched from my cone on the tb to a single cf chambered intake. Car really growls when reaching up to 3k rpm now. have too many things sitting in my room that I need to finish on the car.
