Weird substance on paint??

Hey guys I have a problem. I have an 07 C230. Drove it the other day into the snow for about 15 min and parked it back in the garage. About a 2 days later I found this white powdery stuff on the top of my car. I use my fingertip and could wipe a small section of it off. I thought it's just some dust so drove it out in the rain the next day hoping it would wash it away.. but wrong! the rain made it kind of "stuck" to the paint. If i use my fingernail to "scratch" it off, it would come off.. (not literally doing it). What should I do?

sounds like over spray to me
did you drive by a place where painting was happening with a gun or something?
IF and I said IF it is overspray i think 3m hand glaze can get it off. But try to think back maybe you can figure what it is exactly. I do not live in an area where snow occurs but from what i heard salt is dropped on the road. Could be that if it happens.
Good luck and hope someone can help you better than i can.

You could try claybarring it. It helps get contaminats off of paint.

could be salt or the chemicals that DOT puts on the roads to melt the snow. Happens here all the time. It can damage your paint so you should wash your car after any snow storm.

Hm.. well it was just around my neighborhood and no salts were used yet since it's the first day it snowed.. im thinking it's the snow mixing in with stuff on the gate that the car went through to leave the parking garage. will try an auto touchless carwash.. if it doesn't come off i'll get it detailed. thanks everyone, im still a student so no time to do it myself.

Sounds to me like it's Nose Candy ;-)

Yes I agree with using clay bar. That thing does wonders.

Another vote for a claybar. I use one that is purple, I can't remember the manufacture, but it is purple.

Got a picture of the paint?

Thanks everyone again, I called an auto detailer and scheduled for a wash/clay/polish/wax tomorrow. I'll take pictures of before and after and post it tomorrow. My paint has some pretty bad oxidized spot too.
