I'm getting ready to replace the alternator on my 2005 C230. I it looks like I need to remove the wideband silencer to access the belt tensioner. First, what does the wideband silencer do. Second, any particular process in removing other than just removing the hoses? Any other tips for the process of replacing the alternator?

Look at the attachments on how to change your alternator. You will additionally need to look at how to remove the Poly V-Belt.
