C230 Sport Sedan 7-speed
1st Time Benz Owner... Proud but sad

I just bought my MB yesterday at MB of San Francisco. It's a 2007 Sport Sedan 7-speed w203. I feel like I'm very blessed to be driving this car. I've wanted one of these ever since I first started paying attention to them in 2006 and I love the way it looks and almost everything about it.

The few things that I don't like about it are that I have to turn the windshield wiper knob if I want just one single swipe, placements of the hand break, and the newer w204 rear ends on the 08's +. I always loved my hand break at the right hand in my BMW and previous cars instead of the left foot. I love going to a dirt road and hooking a power slide once or twice just for fun. This is my own ignorance, but I'm not sure what the point is for putting it down at that foot???

I'm also sad about the new 2008 models to present. I loved most about the MB the rear tail lights of the w203 and how they look. The new style looks almost like an old school Nissan Altima or the newer Honda Civic... slanted in stead of upright. I would loved to have purchased an 08 or 09 had MB kept the beautiful style of the w203, but I just can't get past my undesirable feeling toward the rear end of the w204. I do however like the w204 front ends better...

Is there any chance MB will ever put their newer cars back like the w203's looked?

Thanks for reading and replying.

I'm sure its not anything you haven't see before.

Well I went to a few dealers and did some online research. This car doesn't have a scratch on it or in it. Compared to what kelly bb says its worth and compared to what I've seen, I'm pretty happy with wat I paid. They made me an offer under the sticker price, I countered it with lower offer, then we met in the middle.

Don't you just push in the end of the wiper stalk to get one wipe? I can't imagine they changed it mid-generation. To answer your follow-up, push it past the first indent to the second to get wiper fluid.

salesmen don't know much sometimes haha. But yes, you can achieve this by pushing the knob in. First click will engage the wiper, second click will engage the washer fluid

Usual immediate mods are flat badge and the CF LIP. Really depends on what you want to do. Some people start with wheels first then a drop then the cheaper things to follow. In my case i started the cheaper things, then moved on to the expensive stuff.

Do a search, you'll find a lot of good cars here. All my mods are from fellow members. Check the classifieds too, that's where i got most of mine. Check out my thread below my sig to give you an idea.

Happy modding!

Should be. That was never changed on SA cars.

Your car might also have rain sensing wipers.

I think the answer about the parking brake placement is that MB's design in general, in these cars, is based around the idea of a comfortable vehicle with an automatic. They offer a manual, but the car is not really designed around having a manual transmission.

The SLK, on the other hand seem to be designed with the idea of a car with a manual transmission and then the automatic can be worked in. Just my interpretation of my observations.

You didn't necessarily overpay for your car considering it was a retail purchase. The 2007 model year presently and consistently still demands a higher purchase price than even it twin for the 06 model year. Its evident everywhere these cars are bought and sold. A lot of them still have some warranty left, and came with some new and desireable options, as well as it being the last w203. I purchased my wife's 07 c230 sport w/ approx 42k mi earlier this summer for $18,9 (new rotors, pads, tires, oil as well) and felt as if we weren't overpaying at the time. nice purchase, welcome to the club... my wife & I each have one (I have an 06 c350 sport) and I wake up excited to drive every single day

thanks, this gives me additional comfort about my purchase. I have 75000 miles left on the warranty and it ends in on 10/1/12. I generally put 30 thousand miles on my car per year and i might consider getting an extended warranty after. With my bmw, i paid maybe 8 thousand in maintenance when my warranty went out. I think i've learned my lesson on that.

I got the w203 for under 20 grand. It has seat memory, new brakes, new tires, new roators, there isnt a scratch on it anywhere inside or out. I paid the extra 1300 bucks for a leather warranty because with my bmw, i couldnt keep my leather clean or in shape. my but wore out the leather quick and my interior was far less than appealing to look at. My notes are only 225 a month for 5 years. im happy right now. we'll see how i feel about it in 2 years after the endorphins wear off.

i bought my c55 with 30k with the cpo warranty from the same place in what i call excellent condition for 25k. then again, they really wanted to get rid of it since not everyone in the area is dieing for a c55, darell can agree with me, most people here are into e46 m3's who was your salesman?

my salesman looked like Terrence Howard's identical twin. His name is Adeajai Dotson.

Warranty is the biggest point, used car values drop off once warranty is up. They took more features out of the 2007 than they put in.

$1300 for some sort of interior warranty? jeez.

anyway. you got yourself a very nice car with lots of warranty backing you up. dig into some appearance mods if you wish (highly recommend), get an exhaust if you like, but either way it'll reward you by being quick, fun, and sexy. represent that new star on your hood.

You should have driven the TL and the IS250 before you bought the C230 because the even though the TL type-s and base are FWD the IS250 is RWD. You should have driven all three before you made the move.. Anywho welcome.

He never said he did or did not, but I am assuming if he drove other cars he may have reconsidered.

I'm not a fan of these IS250s man. I drove that thing and it sucks big time. I would take the C230 over it anyday of the week.

GS350 is the only worthy one...GS350 FTW
