What functionality will I lose?
I have the normal stock dumpster juice speakers and radio in my 2007 C230. I went to the aftermarket audio dealer looking to get a dual din Kenwood DDX616 put into my car with after market speakers and amp. I'm not saying that the guy is right or wrong, i just want to fact check what he said. He stated that if I put an aftermarket radio in my car, I will lose the ability to adjust my clock in the dash menu, plus other various things will not work in the dash menu? The Kenwood does have an adapter you can use that will allow the steering wheel controls to operate the radio, but whether I get this adapter or not, I lose functionality in the internal dash menu.
What functionality will I lose exactly? Thanks in advance.

I don't think you'll be losing the ability to change your clock.. that has nothing to do with your headunit I imagine.. Well I'm getting my unit install on Wednesday so maybe I could answer some of your questions then.

We set the radio though the gauge cluster...
Worst case scenario your MOST loop will get messed up and you'll have to take it to the dealer to reprogram it. Other people have done after market head units with no problems.

I know they have controlls that you can still use your steering wheel buttons on aftermarket stereo systems. I believe Rollnnn has them which Jerry installed. Might want to hit up Jerry or Rollnnn

Just to confirm the OP question, after installing an aftermarket headunit, you can still change the time on the cluster. If you get those mentioned adapater, everything should work as normal. I'll post pics up tomorrow guys since it's really dark right now.

Karo is talking about a steering wheel interface. Thats what Jerry installed in Roland's car I think.

i went to all pro audio and ams car stereo. i was working with jimmy but he got sick and i went over to curtis at ams, and hes saying the same thing. they say that the internal dash gets the time from the stock radio. once the stock radio is removed, the time cant be adjusted internally. which adapter should i tell him to use?

Well I already paid my deposit days ago and they have my interior in pieces with 3 guys working on the car, so it'd be kinda difficult to back out now. I'm doing 10 inch pioneers in the deck. We will see how they sound. I'm doing focals in the doors and the head uunit id the kenwood ddx616

i'd have them just do the stereo. as far as the subs, you're rear deck is probably going to rattle like hell. my suggestion is putting a nice 12" woofer in the back in a ported box and take out the factory ten to be used as a port. dude i'm only 19 but i have more experience than any shop you can possibly imagine with the w203. we have 2.
