I want to run same size tires front and rear so I can rotate them.
The question is which set of rims look better? Please vote!
The AMG's here? Or the old school Stock C7's?
I need to get new tires, and am tired of replacing rear tires more often than oil changes.
So, I can either
a. use the C7 set I have. A no brainer, just go buy tires!
OR
b. Use the AMG's but trade the rears with another member for 7.5" vs 8.5" width so I can rotate the tires. So use your imagination, rear won't have a nice shiny lip anymore, and won't fill out the wheel wells, though I could easily use spacers to get the same look. I like these better, but it will be a hassle
exchanging the rear, and shipping etc.

The GF, says they look old man, and the C7's look nice and shiney, and to her, different. Granted, they are very different than other MB wheels, but with them on my car, it looks completely stock, albeit, stock for 2005 instead of 2002. Is that bad? Funny to have put so much into the car, only to look completely stock from another year.
I've got the C7's on the car now.

or the old school C7's?
My GF like the C7's better.

My car here....

Someone elses car, no AMG brakes...

i like the 7-spoke c7 wheels... maybe no "amg" badge... but they look better in my opinion.

would you consider running spacers to fill in the rear?

Todd - all your old clunker needs is wheels man!

You must learn - for the sake of peace do what the GF suggests & open another bottle of good wine!

Update the tail lights. Happy New Year!

Ha, yeh, my tails, turn signal, Bix and clear fogs, all updated from Blake's coupe.
Even have the 2003+ sunroof with the wind deflector since the whole unit was replaced under warranty.
I had a hard time finding old pics of my car, with C7's so most of the pics are of other cars, but there are 2 where you can see just after I got the Coilovers.

Wow, lots of c7 love around here! I'm the 1st to vote for the AMG's.
That 3 to 1 including my GF so far.

I like the way the AMG's show off the calipers.
The grey one is from the Euro Coupe brochure from 2001.
Thats the AMG evolution version. So the AMG wheels were available
stock as part of a package in Europe.

To me, the AMGs look more old school than the C7s; they look like they came off a first gen CLK.

I've got mine on my car now as winter wheels; have always liked them. And they're much more rare to boot.

Supposedly in Canada they had a staggered C7 option, and some folks bought the 8.5" C7's to put on the back.
I'm thinking a spacer maybe.
The 8.5" puts a lot more rubber to the road than is needed and eats previous fuel.
I'm getting better mileage lately with the old C7's on, Exclaims on the front, and P Zero all seasons on the back.
Both are pretty much done. But traction is still good with less rubber on the back.

Anyone have a guesstimate on the price of rear spacers wide enough to simulate the wider wheels, and how wide would those be?

I'm amazed at the amount of C7 love here.....

C7 wheels for the win, I had even considered swapping those for my 07 230 "spider" wheels as some people have called them on here....

C7's are magic. In SA they were all staggered.

When they were my only wheels, I used 20mm spacers. They were H&R and are currently $89 on Pure MS.

FYI, If tires are non directional it is recommended by tire manufacturers to do side side rotate. Just an FYI in SoCal most Benz dealers do rotate staggered by going "side to side" and I have over 7 years. And yes you can feel the difference.

Add another vote for the C7's - my favorite. I thought I saw a staggered set for sale once upon a time but then could never find them(or another set) again so assumed I had imagined it. I'd be all over a set of staggered C7's...

I did get a staggered setup a while ago (the next generation 5 spoke CLK500 wheels) and have to agree wholeheartedly on the gas mileage. I definitely noticed a slight hit in mpg when I went to the staggered setup (1~2 mpg).

I'm a C7 vote. I just think those AMG's look a little dated now sadly. I put 20mm spacers on my C7's... see link below:

Happy New Year!

Seeing that there is soo much C7 love on this thread, I actually have a set of C7 wheels sitting in my garage with no tires or centercaps if anybody is interested.

What did you do with your spacers and bolts?
I'm seeing getting the correct bolt size is tricky.

Just measure your stock bolts and add 20mm. RAD has 10.9 grade, ball seat bolts at varying lengths, you should be able to order them from there. Very high quality.

You're assuming a lot about a certain person's mathematical abilities.

Actually, if you go to www.radusadirect.com , it looks like you can just get spacers and longer bolts as a package (assuming their longer bolts would be correctly calculated, of course).

What's up with that?
Bad ratio, but hard to believe 1463 people were bored enough to view this thread.
