Anyone got problem Shell V-Power?

Everytime I filled my car up with V-power, I always get P0420 (Inefficient cat).
There must be something unique to the mixture.
It said Nitrogen enriched gasoline...does it turn out to more NoX at the tailpipe? Any chem engineer here?

It works fine if I use Chevron...anyone has the same problem?
BTW, the car is M271 C230 kompressor.

I don't see how this has anything to do with the problem OP has with his car. It's not like they pick up the spilled oil and still use it.

And besides, s**t happens. If chevron's suppliers (which are most likely the same as shell's) had an oil spill too, you'd stop buying their products?

I interchange Shell and Chevron on the C230. No problems here.

It could be your local Shell station.

TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline is the premier standard for gasoline performance. Six of the world's top automakers, BMW, General Motors, Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen and Audi
http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html

Of note: Mercedes recommends Mobil for whatever reason. IDK prob some sort of marketing tie in.

I know it has nothing to do with his issue im point out that you shouldn't buy this gas if you can.
I posted useful information. Chevron has never done what they have done. If you spent time in reading about shell you would change what you just said.

Anyways

Maybe u just picked up some bad gas. How long has this been going on?

**Soap Box On**
Really...horrible video's that don't show the other sides of the story - that well heads are sabotaged, that crews to repair leaks are shot at, kidnapped, etc. The ineffectiveness of the government, along with the changes in government impacting who or what company is allowed in to complete repair and maintenance work.

Seriously, you think that all the oil Shell pumps out of the Nigerian Delta is kept separate in the tankers, then refined to be only Shell oil? That it isn't traded, etc? Or that Shell is the only company that is plagued by vandalism and theft, then blamed for the environmental impact that is caused as a result?

I am sorry, the oil companies make a huge profit, but relatively modest *returns* on the investments they make in the industry. No reason to bash on unnecessarily.

** Soap Box Off**

Thread Content: No problems here with Shell, however it is not my preferred fuel vendor. I have a preference for an independent chain, with decent quality, but have no idea who they source fuel through. Pretty sure it is all from the same pipeline, though...just different additives. Not my specialty, maybe Glyn will clue us in.

THE C350
i use shell 99% of the time because my father pays for my gas on the shell card

Yes i have the best father ever but thing were not always so good there were dark days when i paid for my gas bill which for those who don't know me well is ridiculous like 2-3 tanks a week at like $3.80 a gallon so like $120 a week in gas lol and i work like 5 minutes away from my house.

I filled up with shell 3 times and everytime i did that CEL came on (P0420) after 10-20 miles of driving.
I erased the code, run the car with chevron and never got any CEL.
I decided to try it again, so i filled up with shell 2-day ago and now i got P0420...just what i expected. Shell must have certain additives that my merc doesn't like...but i have to say i feel more power with shell.

I put 76, Mobil, Shell and Chevron. I stay away from other brands like Arco, Valero and the no namer gas stations and also stay away from Costco gas.
