Aftermarket HID's in Factory Bi-Xenon Housing

Tried searching quickly and couldn't find any answers, so does anyone know how to go about installing aftermarket HID's into the factory Bi-Xenon housing? I placed the aftermarket bulb into the stock harness and it ignited, but it burned the same color as stock. I also can't remove the stock HID bulb from the housing, any ideas?

Just buy the hid bulbs that are the same as your stock ones. The bulbs are held in by brackets so there's a little push/pull knob. Just feel around the bulb and you'll find it.

Aren't the color temperatures controlled by the ballast though? I figured the bulb itself didn't produce the color change, it was the ballast.

The HID bulbs are D2S, and I ordered a set of D2S bulbs of a different color temp., so could I effectively just plug in the new bulbs and put them in the housing and they'd work the same?

The bulbs control the color.

So just pop the OEM HID bulbs out, replace with the new bulbs and call it a day?

Yes. Just make sure you don't touch the glass of the bulb or it will blow. If you have touched it then clean it with some rubbing alcohol to remove any oils.

Alright, thanks for the info. My only problem now is getting the actual stock bulb out of its socket. I tried turning to unlock like any typical bulb, but it won't budge. I took out the harness easily but it seems like there's a rubber ring around the bulb keeping it sealed tight.

Yeap, the bulb temp is independent of the ballast.. Just get a set of DDM tuning bulbs.
