255mm rear tires???
hmmm is it safe to use 255 mm tires for the rear on 9" x 18 rear wheels??? im a bit concerned that they might RUB when i seat 5 people with luggage on the car. BTW, im not lowering my car. AMGs i know only use 245 for the rear....
also read once that 255 needs some sort of rear axle modification.......
any ideas???

It must depend on which tires you have. I've looked at various C class cars and the tire brand varies. Also driving styles vary thread life. My wife can only get about 15-20K miles from a set of tires and I can usually get double that. My friends C320 with the 16" Continental's are ready for replacement at 15k miles. The dealer said 20K is normal. I can't imagine the C7 tires being much worse.

Tire puncture in 230K Coupe...
I just found a huge screw in the tread of a rear tire of my 230K. I went to a gas station where they pulled out the screw and plugged the hole with some orange rubbery stuff. After inflating, they sprayed it with some liquid and saw that it wasn't bubbling (no air leaking.) The plugged hole is at the very edge of the tread--right above the sidewall. If it doesn't leak anymore, it it safe to drive? Should I worry about a blowout? I hate to spend $100+ on replacing an essentially new tire, but I don't want to get stranded either. Thoughts?

Sorry to hear about the tire. In my experience, plugs-- especially if the screw was big-- are rarely a good long-term fix. Tires are too important if you do any type of highway driving to run in anything but optimum condition. You should be fine short-term until you can get a new tire. But that's exactly what I would do in your place. Just my opinion, though.

As long as the hole was in the tread region you should be fine. I once had brand new Pirellis on a car and ran over a rake. Two holes. Under duress the guy plugged them and I got 45000 miles out of them with no troubles. I have plugged other tires and gotten at least 20K so you should be okay

sorry about the tire i know how u feel i felt worse the day i bought my Jaguar XK8 right when i bought it i went on the highway and took it for what i thought would be a fun drive but all the sudden about 10 min into the ride i got flat i pulled over and got out and saw it and felt like crying it was so badly damaged i had to buy a new tire and these are Pirelli P Zero and they are pretty expensive espcually if the tire was brand new and not to mention i only had the car for 20 min the most. buy by the way i think a patch would be better. but maybe u will get lucky hopfully.

Wider 17" tires
I was wondering whould it be a good idea to use a wider set of tires in the back with the C7 wheels?
Can I fit 245 tires on them?
The original tires are 225/45/17

wut i would do is just go one size wider in the rear wit one size lower profile..so 235 40 zr 17 should b good 245 mite b a lil 2 wide and mite slow the car down but it would handle sick wit them good luck

Yes, I have Michelin Pilot Sports for summer tires.
OK, here are my calculations:
Current tire size is 225 45 17, so
225 * 0.45 = 101.25 mm is the sidewall height,
so the closest sidewall to 101.25mm with the wider tire would be:
255 * 0.40 = 102.00 mm
My Degree is Math comes handy sometimes
So a 255mm wide Pilos Sport would be a nice looking tire for the back, of course the only way I can rotate them is side to side, by removing the tires from the rims.
Which may actually work, because I'm using the Pilot Sports only in the summer and in the winter I have Pilot Alpins on the same rims.

Michelin PS 255/40/17 requires a minimum of 8.5" rim => no go with the standard C7/Evolution one which is 7.5"
ALso, they are rated at US$238 apiece... kind of pricey...
