I am running Fusion ZRi (Brigestone makes them if you don’t already know). From the review at Tirerack.com, they are equivalent to Yoko ES100 as far as performance and price. However they are a lot quieter than the Yoko, except I do notice some tire noise from 5 to 10 mph. I am also not too sure about wet tractions, because it has been raining a lot lately in California, and I can definitely feel the hydroplaning compare to my Accord, which has Falken Ziex ZE 512. However, for the price, Fusion is hard to beat.

You shouldn't have any rubbing problems. Just make sure you get the right offset on the wheels.

I totally agree with drex. I have 235/40/18 and 265/35/18, and they don't rub at all.

I'm running Fuzion the ZR-1's as well.
When they were first introduced they were like 500 a set installed.
Of course, that was just to get people's attention.
The price has come up now, but I did manage to get
2 installed recently for 300 out the door.

I've had fairly good luck with them, but they're hard as hell.
You feel every little dimple in the road.
BUT they handle well, and are about 1/2 the price of michelins.

I have had good luck with them in the rain, good wet traction, and was one of the reasons I bought them. Also, I've noticed that tires with tread designs like the Yoko's, and original Pilot Sports seemed to trammel a lot.

Don't have that issue with the Fuzions.
Overall they're a good tire for the money,

Seems General has a really cheap #1 rated tire that you can get for like 400 a set installed!
If I'd known in advance I might have bought a set.
On the other hand, they don't have very many miles racked up in the ratings,
so that could change.
Fuzion used to be higher up when they had less miles.

I have followed this thread and read it with interest. I think a far more appropriate way of doing this is by you saying what tires you went from and what you went to. That is your comparison. And you can speak informatively on the differances between the two.

I know that sometimes my cash gets tight and I look for a deal. However I'm going to state again. NEVER short change yourself on brakes and tires. That saved foot of braking distance could save yourself alot of grief.

Personally my next set is going to be the Goodyear GSD or whatever its called.

From my personal experience:
Kumho Ecsta SPT - I just ordered these, They're supposed to be excellent in the wet. This is a summer tire.
Kumho Ecsta ASX - I don't like these. Compound is a bit hard (a result of 420 wear rating) they don't grip all that well in the rain.
Yokohama AVS ES100 - they're ok for the price... good all round tire.
Falken Ziex ZE512 - Very quiet, sidewalls are a bit soft. Reasonable amount of grip too. Good balance of luxury/performance.

Other tires that are highly rated:
Falken Azenis ST115 - I have heard nothing but good things about this tire.
BFG KDW2 - Tread pattern looks like it would grip fairly well.

Went from Michelin pilot sports to Kumho somethingorothers. Noisy, and sidewall bulge at 20K. But handled almost as well as PSs, and longer life.

after the stock pirelli on the C320 Coupe C7

went onto a set of Falken 512s, love them so far, great in the rain / water

traction is very good as well...

the stock Pirelli's threadwear was horrible.. let see how these hold up

I just got a set of Kumho Ecsta ASX in December & drove to Vegas in heavy rain without any problems. Near the CA/NV border, the car was doing over 100 and there weren't any issues at all. And yes, they are not as quiet as the Piloti Sport 2, but they only cost me $90 each. I also use another Kumho Ecsta in my E36 328i (235/40/17) and I'm very happy with the performance/value with them. I will try a set of Kumbo Ecsta Sport next.

thanks to those who responded to my first thread. my next question:

i've noticed that my left rear tire loses air faster than the others. actually last december i ended up getting a flat tire. but even before then, the left rear seem to always lose more air. is their an explanation for this???

its called a leak

when theres a hole in your tire, air will want to go out.

a leak makes sense BUT i find it a bit odd that the it's the same tire (the RIGHT REAR btw not the left). i replaced both rear tires after the flat last december...

When you replaced the tires, did you replaced the valve stems too?

Same thing just happened to me twice.. Suddenly i just got flat tires.. 1st one it was just flat but i didnt realize it, kept driving it, by the time i realized it, the wheel just got bent. 2nd one i realized it, fortunately no bent what so ever, fill up the air and everything just good to go. Both cases, the tire was just flat, 0 air pressure. Thats insane, cold weather might be the cause of it since its 19's summer tires.

first thing...check the valve stem...(its the rubber thing you put air into)
second thing...sometimes tires(more on low profile) dont seat correctly or have some trash or dirt stuck along the lip of the tire that air can seep out of. If you take it to any tire shop they can submerge it in water and find the leak

I'm sure it's been posted somewhere in here, but Blake and mj50 were telling me something about the spare tire well and how there's a part that I can get that will allow me to put a full size spare in.

Anyways, I was wondering if anybody had that part number. None of the searches I tried came up with the part number for this. Or even a link will do.

Here's the parts I ordered:

SHELL - A 203 898 01 07 7c45 - for 225 width tire
BRACKET - A 203 899 04 14 7c45

The total was only about $25 and it was very easy to replace. The most difficult/expensive part was finding and paying for the spare wheel/tire, but when you think about the possibility of having a blow out on one of the fronts and the chance of being stranded because the donut doesn't fit over the front brakes, it starts to make alot more sense.

You have a 2005 right? Isn't that the one with the bigger calipers in front. I have the 2003 SS and that was when they had the smaller calipers, and I have a full size spare, but now I have upgraded to C32 brakes up front, the spare will not clear the front. So not sure if your donut was made to clear the front and rear.

If you're talking to me, I have 2004, which was the same as yours with small brakes in front and the donut would certainly not clear my AMG brakes. I have no idea whether or not MB included a spare that would clear the front brakes once they started adding BBK's on 2004.5+ C230's.

Sorry Blake, it was meant for Just-a-car, think we both posted at the same time. Yea was wondering the same thing, if the donut that came with his 2005 was made to clear the front as well. because I know the C32's did not have a spare.

Yes, I found a seller with a reconditioned 17" AMG IV wheel and jumped on it. I got it to match my C55 wheels, although it doesn't really matter much anymore since I sold them. BTW, my deal on the SLK55 wheels fell through when the seller's new wheels arrived with the wrong offset and he had to send them back. Instead, I made a heck of a deal on some HRE 441R's!
