Just checked my tires. I was so sure I had directional tires I never bothered to look at them, but I see no directional arrows on them! They are Michelin Pilot Primacy's.

I don't think Primacy's are directional...they have no directional arrows on the sidewall. They DO have "OUTSIDE" markings though. Tirerack's survey has the Primacy's rated pretty poorly, BTW.
TNblkc230wz, are Michelin PS2's directional? The tread certainly doesn't look directional. When it comes time to replace my tires, I will NOT be getting directional tires.

Then there is a directional tire. This is one where HOW you mount it on the wheel maters. So, you can take a directional tire, dismount it from the wheel, FLIP IT, effectively changing direction it will turned, and move that tire to the other side.
Left and right rear wheels. You basically turn them inside out... if you just switched them, the tires would be the wrong way, if you dismount, and move it over, it still turns the same direction, but it on the other side of the car....

Tire replacement
Just got a razorblade in my O.E.M Michelin Pilot Sport passenger rear tire, w/ 15,500 on them. Also just bought new snows through tirerack.com. Need to swap these tires out soon, but here's the question: though the other three tires are 91Y's, can I put a 91W on the passenger rear as a replacement until I'm ready to mount the snows? Don't feel like buying another set of all-seasons or summers right now given the fact I just shelled out $600 for snows. Thanks.
Also, any suggestions for good summer tires that don't wear as quickly as the Michelin Pilot Sports?

all the W vs Y designation mean is SPEED RATING.
so unless you're going to be doing over 168 mph, there's no worries.
From MICHELIN:
Performance Categories & Maximum Speed *
W = 168 mph
Y = 186 mph
Z = 150 mph and up
* Exceeding the legal speed limit is neither recommended nor endorsed.

Thanks. Also, any issue w/ putting a Sumitomo HTR+ all-season on as a replacement w/ 3 other Michelin Pilot Sports on the others? I'm basically trying to just get a few thousand more in until I can put the snows on in November. The Sumitomo is $83 on tirerack.com.

i'm not qualified to say whether 1 vs 3 set-up is ok or detrimental. I'm not familiar with Sumitomo at all.
I can't think of anything why it wouldn't be, as long as it's the same size and rating.
Is the tread pattern very deep or heavy compared to the MICHELIN's ? if so, would it cause the car to pull to one side ?
you might want to ask TIRE RACK directly.
You can check with Luke, here on MBWorld, by going to the Tire, Wheels threads on the main forums.

I am against mixing different manufactured tires. Can it be done? I am sure it can but would advise against it. It's all about making sure the car performs at least to specs. 1 X 3 is not how the car was delivered EOM.
I am also pretty sure Tire Rack will say the same thing.....especially on a Mercedes.
But it all depends on what your priorities are.

I'm just trying to get something on there to get the spare off and avoid having to shell out another $600-$700 on a set of tires when I just spent, literally 2 days ago, $600 on snows for the winter. Was only going to use the 1 x 3 setup for 3 months. I don't want to get a new set, mount them for 3 months, then have to take 'em off and mount the snows for the season. Looking for a temporary fix until the spring when I can get a full set and have some $$ to do it.

i had flat tire at 11k too. Brought it to the tire store and they said it could not be fixed, so I bought four new tires. They were Bridgestone Potenza RE750. I don't know if I am imagining things but these new tires seem to ride better than the factory's Continental tires. They seem to absorb bad roads better. It's possible I am sensing this because the factory equipped tires had worn out a bit.

My car has approx. 11K on it, are there any drawbacks to replacing one rear tire and not the other with a different tire? I know that having unmatching tires is not the greatest idea (nor does it look great), but are there any adverse affects that would affect vehicle handling, etc? Would it make the most sense to replace both of the rear tires?
If so...anyone interested in a passenger side 245/40/17 Michelin Pilot Sport with 11K on it in great condition?
Thanks for any responses.

C 230K Coupé
Hey buellwinkle, I too hate the tires on my 2002 coupe that come with the 16in rims. I think they're Micheling energy or something. Bad grip and treadwear. What did you change yours to cause i might have to change them soon myself.

Out Of Control!!
I had S03s, and am now on PS2s (again). And my next pair as well - better by far than the S03s.
Most reviews I've seen have placed the PS2s #1, for what that's worth.
