This is what my rears looked like when I changed them...the fronts had about 70% left...so that will give you an idea of the difference between front and rear wear.

My rears now run about 8K and fronts run 15-16K. I change the tires when they should be changed and not when they are bald as hell. It all depends on how you drive and the tire that you buy. I am yet to see someone pull 25K on Z rated tires and not have them BALD like slicks.

My right rear tire wears down 3 to 1 against the fronts. An sl500 was just in the shop and his right rear was down also. I'm just going to start rotating more often since all four wheel are the same. At first I thought it was the car's alighnment, but the dealer said it was fine. True, the driving wheels wear the rubber faster, but I had brand new (dont laugh I aint rich) 60,000 mile Toyo's on, and was down to the wear bars on the right rear in 22k miles, 14 mos.

what tires are you guys running on your C?
just looking to replace my 2 rear tires...have the stock ContiSportcontact 2's on there wondering if i should just get the same tires? I got quoted by this guy thats hooking me up for $170 a piece for the same continental tire installed? its a great price, but i was wondering if i can save money and get these other tires he recommmended that BFGoodrich makes its called Rikon's and its only $105 a piece isntalled. Dont want to be a cheapo but if these tires arent gonna make a big difference on drive comfort or handling on dry/wet. The guy says it doesnt compare to the continentals but he rather have the Rikons then the yokohamas khumo's or falkon's. What do you guys think?

I've heard the Khumos are fine. My friend has an M Coupe with them and he says they've worked out well. Your tire salesman only makes money by removing it from your pocket.

yokohama ES100AVS is a good replacement if you dont want to burn a hole in your wallet, the price is not high, yet a good peroformance tire.
when i was replacing my rear tires, i went for the Michillen Pilot sport 2, cuz you never know when will you need that extra strengh when it comes to manouver out of an accident. or the little extra grip on the tires from hitting a car/object in front of you.
top gear did an episode on econ tires vs. high proformance tires, even in same tire size, it has a dramaticlly improvement on the track time.
as long as you are still getting high performance tires, in different brands of choice, i think the difference in performance should not be that much.

I'm running BFG G-Force KDW's now, after two sets of Pilot Sports (not PS2s).
The BFGs are much better for reaction, having a greatly stiffer sidewall. They are a lot easier to pick a precise line with, they handle very well (overall grip), they're great in the rain, and they're fairly inexpensive ($125each). Tramlining is also dramatically less than with the Michelins.
The downside? They're rather noisy. If you listen to your stereo, or you drive on concrete highways, they're not that noticable. But, if you drive on very smooth asphalt, there is a distinct whine to them. Not the greatest for a luxury car, but it's a tradeoff that I read about before purchasing, and it won't scare me off from re-upping when these are worn out (which will be quite a while).

I put replica amgs so i am running a 225/40/18 in the front and 255/35/18 in the back. These sizes can be pricy buy i found a Kuhmo Ecsta Supra 712 is a farily cheap tire that holds pretty well + dont feel to bad buring down a tire that only cost about 120 a piece aposed to 2 or 3 hundred plus a piece.

Right now I'm running on Pilot Sports, but after they wear out, I'm going to get some P Zero M+S or other cheaper alternatives. Something still in the high performance category but with better treadwear.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3.... replaced the stock ContiSportContact2 with them. Good price (here in Asia at least), and great performance, especially in torrential rain.
