GAS CAP PART# HELP
Hi.
Can anybody tell me if part # A 168 470 02 05 been replaced by
Part Number: 230-470-04-05?
My gas cap seem to be broken...can't get it to go back in. Is this common?
I hate returning stuff so i'm making sure I get the right part.
Thanks for the assistance.

A1684700205 is listed as a current part, SA code 494, Note says : 010 To Chassis: F 326375 To Date: 31/07/2002 Except model year: 803
A2304700405 does not show as valid for a W203, only a W204, and has actually be replaced with A2124700205.
W203's are tricky, a number of different filler necks were used, and the caps are different. If you send me a PM with your VIN, I'll pull the right part number for you.
Take a close look at the cap - it's hard to describe, but there's an inner ring that can rotate and get misaligned. You can turn it with your fingers to re-align it.
It's pissing it down rain at the moment or I'd go wander out a take a picture..

I may have to purchase a new cap since the rubber cord has been broken for a while.
Thanks again.
