Service A $99. Service B $349. Worth it?
Hey guys,
Where I live, MB Dealer always has Service A for $99 bucks and service B for $349. Is it worth it? I guess the $99 for service A is worth it but unsure about service B. Huge jump from A to B there in term of service fee.
What do you say?

Where are you located?
You may have reputable Indys near you that can perform service B for much cheaper than what the dealer is charging. Otherwise I'd look around at other dealers.

As you can imagine the customer service would be on a much more personal level and the pricing would usually be relatively cheaper than the dealer. They're usually a good back up or primary option depending on what you're looking for. I'm more than sure there has to be atleast one quality indy in your area that can service high-end cars such as Mercedes and other European makes.

Yeah, 99 bucks is good.
Service B is mostly inspection, actual parts add to the cost.
Check around for service sheets to tell you what exactly is done,
or better yet ASK.

that's actually not bad prices at all.
around my neck of the woods service A is around $450 and service B is around $650 done at the local stealership.
service A at $99 is very reasonable.
6 qts of M1 0w-40 is $48 + tax and the oil filter is $13 + tax purchased from the parts department at the dealer.
so around $61+ for parts alone.
if I didn't do my oil change top side and was feeling tired or lazy, at $99 I would just drop the car off at the dealer.
worth the extra 30-40 just to have the tech look over the car.
service B... $350 isn't bad considering what we pay here.
from the official list I got from the dealer, things added to service B from service A:
check seat belts for damage and proper function
check brake pad thickness(front and rear)
check condition of brake discs front and rear
measure tread depth and record
visual check for:
leakage-Major components
Chafe marks, line routing, components
In the event of leakage, determine cause and perform repair via separate work order
check condition of front axle ball joints and rubber boots
check condition of steering's mechanical components and rubber boots
so, more visual checks and things.
is it worth the extra $250?

99 is pretty cheap for a dealer.
349 is about the same price for almost all service b's.
My stealership is a little expensive here, havent found a good indy yet for now. i pay about 200+ for Service A and 3 to 4 + for service B.
Yes i know its expensive..lol.. cant beat PEACE of MIND for now though until i find a reputable indy.

Mercedes of Buckhead. Although on the web site, its promotion states $179 but if you call or email and ask if the $99 promotion is still available. Most likely they will say sure. I was never paying more than $99 for service A at MB of Buckhead even though their site or service dept posted at different rate. Plus when you call in, you will hear a sweet voice and I think her name is Kimberly or so. She can take your appointment for $99.

She can take a long walk off a short pier, I was just asking which dealer. I'll visit a dealer when I have absolutely no other options and not before. I can do the Service A/B inspections at my house and right now I pay $9.75 for labor to have my oil changed. I supply the parts. The oil is $6.27 per quart at Wal-Mart for the M1 0W-40. The filter is $10 from RMEuropean and I have a few on hand. That's $60 every oil change in total, even with tax.
To go to MB Buckhead would cost $30 in fuel and $99 for the same thing.
Dealers = Rip off.

Well for $99, you are just not getting the oil/filter changed but also other minor stuff like topped off fluids and tire inspection and adjustment. I think they also check brakes and a free car wash and make other suggestions so you could perform the work yourself. So I think it's about the same price for DIY but I would rather have it done right at the Dealer for this price though. For service B, I'll just have them do Server A too and I can take care the rest .

My fluids stay topped off and I know my tire conditions at all times. My brakes are 10,000 miles old. I don't need them to tell me that. I also don't do it myself, I have a great independent mechanic that handles everything except oil changes. When I get the oil changed, I use the local Nissan Dealer and have since 27k miles (at ~105k now). Seems like an odd choice, but they know me by name, the same guy does the work every time, and they have the utmost respect for my car. They charge $9.75, including tax, for labor and if it takes over 30 minutes I pay nothing. In the end, like I say, it comes out to $60 in total. I would pay over 2x that amount to go to a dealer.
These cars don't have to cost a lot to maintain, you just have to be smart about it.

Not everyone is a DIY'er and these prices are very fair for both Service A and B.

Can't change oil, inspect things (hell, you could even inspect more things than the dealer does!), and change filters? In between changes you're not inspecting the car, either?

I should have clarified, perhaps - I hate car dealers, but I'm not a DIY either.
To the other guy that asked where I took mine for oil change labor only - Heritage Nissan, Rome, GA.

has anyone actually gotten a service A there and walked out paying $99?
I am current arguing with a friend of mine that just bought a C300. I just don't see how they could possibly do this for $99 when the labor rate is $100/hour at most reputable places.
I find it very hard to believe that the cheapest place in town to get service is the Mercedes dealership in BUCKHEAD!
I just paid $270 at my local independent repair shop. Given the list of things replaced and checked, this seems reasonable to me. at $99, they must be skipping most of these items and just changing the oil.
Or am I wrong?

99 bucks??? Wow...
My 05 is now 2 days past due Service A and just for ****s and giggles I emailed my local dealer a couple yesterday to ask the price and the contents of it and got a response of $250+tax.
250 bucks for an oil change, checking tire pressure, adding washer fluid etc. Yeah right...
