Instrument Cluster Lights - PLEASE HELP

Hi Guys,
I recently purchased an '02 C240 and have a feeling that not all the lights are on when they are supposed to be. For example, is the seatbelt light supposed to be on when its not clipped? And is there a light to show when the e-brake is engaged? They show up when I turn the car on, but turn off when all the other dash lights turn off...any help would be great!

Did you try buckling you're seatbelt ... Did you remove you're parking break?
you're seatbelt light is there to tell you to use it... hence the light and the annoying 13 beeps
now parking break light turning off is odd?
maybe you didnt release it completely? i only get that if i ever release it half way or anything... just a thought

Yes and Yes. I didn't ask how to operate the seatbelt and break. I'm just asking if there is supposed to be a light on when the break is engaged and when the seatbelt is not clipped - Right now if I have the parking break engaged there is no 'break' light on the dash telling me. Same with the seatbelt. In other cars I have owned a light is illuminated when I dont have my seatbelt clipped.

Both can be disabled with Star, but should not be. Further, I think you normally get a "hard" warning if you move into gear with the e-brake on..

You would have to have someone with Star Diag re-enable them for you. I suppose you don't get the annoying "beeps" when you don't have your seatbelts fastened?

No I don't. And I found that to be kind of weird. Thank you for your help - I'll have a MB tech take a peek at it this weekend.

Yeah, is a good starting point - I'd not want to have either disabled in my car either.

My 01's seat belt light goes off even if i don't put my belt on within like 10 seconds.
as for the parking break you should have a light that yells at you
