m112 spun bearing
Hey all,
So it sounds like a spun bearing, clacking sound/tapping sound on the low rpm but not idle or high rpm.
I googled and checked the forum and it doesnt seem like the m112 are common with spun bearings. just for kicks, what else can this sound be? car has about 160,xxx miles on the clock. oil change on routine. Im going to check tom morning and ill post more info.
can someone post a picture from the underside with the oil pan off? im trying to see if i can tackle this myself. Most likely the bad connecting rod, bearings and maybe the crankshaft has to be swapped?
Thanks in advance!

This is the only bearing failure in recent times.

I wish i was more mechanically inclined but a spun bearing is caused by a lubrication issue right? So in most cases not changing the oil enough or a level issue right?

This is likely a small end bearing failure. Yes Trey it's likely due to inadequate oil supply for whatever reason. Blocked oil gallery, fouled filter & stuck PR valve, neglect in general or over revving causing cavitation or breakthrough of the oil film.
Could also be severe overheating at some time.
