There's plenty of Internet usage in St.Louis. It's just that those with Mercedes-Benzes have long since been relocated as their companies fled the city for the Sun Belt (a shame, says a born and reared St.Louisan.)

Looks like you've got your own bong!

I thought that you just wanted to replace the black ones with Java ones so that they blend in more.... Yeah, that's it!

It looks like the coupe has nubby looking locks compared to the sedan with it's "water tower" looking ones.

Now, if we could only get a pic of the Brabus pins for comparison!

Thanks for posting those pics.

Well, I hate to break it to you, but at least for the ccoupe, Brabus doesn't plan on importing any pins. I had placed an order in Feb, only to be told that in May. They were $60 anyway!

But there are some on ebay every so often that are knockoffs.

Would you believe it if I told you these knobs look exactly like the ones on my Dad's '68 (?) 180 D when I was about 10 years old?! That was actually the car I learned to drive in...sitting on two editions of the yellow pages. You had to pre-heat the Diesel for a couple of minutes with a separate lever (similar to a starter button in addition to the ignition key). My job was to fire that thing up and back it out of the garage in the morning for my old man to go to work. I'll never forget the column shifter :p
Never put a ding in that bad boy, even though it must have been fifty times my size. Destroyer-Gray, to boot. I did drive it on the beach in Romo, Denmark - a Daytona-like, hard-sand, several-hundred-yards-wide beach you could drive your car onto and just zip around. Years later, the cops caught on, and my dad got a ticket for letting someone practice driving without a license. Wasn't me...

I can't believe they still use the same knob. I mean, if it works don't change it, but they must have produced a century's worth and their parts bin is still quarter full
Still not bad looking after all these decades...just goes to show you.

Tommy, didn't you have Brabus knobs on order?

Just for your info: The pics showing the sedan door lock pins is NOT how my sedan door lock pins look like. Guess this is another stupid US-spec thing. In Europe (at least in Sweden) the door lock pins for the sedan looks exactly the same as in the picutres of the coupés. A swap should therefore definitely be possible.

This is how my door lock pins looks like.

Um, actually, they're called "Lock Plates" or that's what it says on my sales receipt... Yea, I dropped by the dealer and bought some.

Part # 123-766-00-22, choose any color, as long as it's black.

The old golf tee "lock plates" are $.50 each, but these simpler puppies are $1.70 each. Go figure.

Ouch! $6,80 instead of $2,00. You'll better dig deep in your wallet.

The golf tee "lock plates" are probably something that has been lying around in the parts dept since 1968, and now they go on sale for a cheaper price

By the way, did you notice that the part# starts with "123". Doesn't the part# usually start with a model specific number, i.e. 203 for the C-class. Well, when I think of it, the old W123 I drove for a while, had similar door lock pins to the ones found in the Euro W203 (and the coupés)... Maybe it's be the very same item?!?

Stay up if you want, guy. I won't tell your mom. I'm pretty hooked on this website, but I'm counting C320s hopping over fences at that hour...

On my sedan they are completely retracted (you won't notice them when you put your elbow over them).

I've learned that they can be installed so that they are flush, or below the window sill.

As best as I could tell, these don't screw into position like the ones they replace... you push them down. When I first installed mine they stuck above the sill when locked. Push a little harder and they will sit flush. I pushed too hard on my driver's side pin, and it now sits below flush. Be careful, because once set in place, they are very difficult to remove. (I can't budge my driver's side pin at all.)

The only problem I see with all of this is if someone is sitting in the rear seat and wants to get out of the vehicle. They cannot pull up on the pin to unlock it. Or does the door unlock as you pull the lever? Never tried it.

The door will automatically unlock when you pull the handle. Kinda freaked me out the first time I locked the door "WTF?! I can't pull it up!"

Brabus door pin !!

You all know that the plastic door pin that come standard with C-Class is terribly ugly. So I went to my friends shop and found something similiar to the Brabus door pins minus the "B" logo on top of it.

Cost me $20 for all 4 doors, what do you guys think?

The furthest to the left on your picture looks a bit rusty at the bottom. Other than that, I'm sure they'll look great. Make sure and post a pic after your installation.
