Frank, there are some Brabus fakies that show up on bnzsport; do a search there.

My real Brabus ones for my ccoupe cost only $47, so for an extra couple of bucks, I think it's worth it to just get the real thing. You only live once - splurge for the additional $30 or so.

The stock ones on the Coupe are nice. They aren't fancy nor irritating. And when locked, they are flush with the door, which is good. IMO, those chrome-looking Brabus ones would not look good on the Coupe.

Here's a pic of mine.

There are enough chrome-looking accent pieces on the interior to make them not look out-of-place, imho. Especially on my interior, with the Momo knob that I have:

I really don't know why non-ccoupe pins aren't flush. When I went to that E-Motion event, I was shocked to see that they had the same door pins that were on the 190s. It was really irritating to drive a $50k car with those damn pins pushing on my arms.

Tommy, yours looks good because as you put it, "you have enough chrome accents to balance it out".

But you got 4 of them for that price, right? Tommy only needed two, so that seems about right.

Sheezus, I'm in the wrong business after reading this thread. $95 for door pins ($20 for that matter)?! I didn't even relize the doors had lock pins. Who touches them?

I'm thinking maybe I should raise the price of my floor jack adaptor to $200. There's 10x the material and enginnering in those....

Sorry for the rant guys. I'm just PO'ed the tax man collect-ith next month.

Is there a functional purpose to the non-coupe door pins? Are there times when you'd find it necessary to use the door pin to manually unlock your car?

i guess in emergency, you can use the door pin to unlock the door in case the unlock buttom on the dash don't work. But when you pull the interior door handle the lock WILL get unlocked, so i don't see the point having the stock door pin. It's the law requires them i think

Not just the 190... I was at my local independent shop, and they had a 1972 450 (i think) being worked on, AND IT HAD THE SAME DOOR PINS!! 31 years later, the C-sedans are still using them...

That's what I thought too, but I guess I was just being paranoid...

The default pins do look rather nasty when I think of it. Reminds me of something in early-80's cars.

$850. It's a huge improvement over stock. If you wanna do it yourself, Pat had a thread about doing it over in the tech section.

Door pins?

I saw that Brabus makes some, and they're pricy. I don't care about the look, in fact I want something that drops under the trim when locked - no grip.

I miss my BMW's lock and forget about it mode - couldn't open by pulling up on a door pin.

So I want to do more of the same. i went to pep boys but the only ones they had are for the thinner diameter american screw posts.

Ideas?

Thanks folks.

Peet

Bust out the crowbar, pry open your wallet, and buy the Brabus ones. Everything else is crap by comparison. And if you get anything else, I'll have to post how cheap you were.

thanks for the whipping tommy - but I am not being cheap, I just don't like the bling bling chrom looky of those Brabus toys.

If they came in black I'd be all over it.

Um.. and NO I WILL NOT PAINT THEM

Anyone else?

Not sure what pins you have, but my recent purchase C320 coupe has pins that retract below the window frame line. They are a straight black cylinder..no knob on top. Maybe this is what you already have, if not you should be able to get them from the dealer.

search for "flat door pins" and you'll see that you get get some from the dealer for $1 each. i believe all coupes come with them standard, but i put it on my sedan and they fit the same. i can't remember the part # but search and you'll find it. heres a pic of it when open:

Nah, no need for the part number. Just go to the parts dept and ask for the door pins for the W208 CLK and get 4 of them.

just what antonio said. I just changed mine not long ago. It's a dollar each. Just go in and ask for the C-coupe door pin or the CLK door pin. They are the same. The short door pin however are not screwed on. It's pushed-on and once you push it down there's no way you can get it off. I pushed the one on my driverside door down too far and it sinks in (doesn't sit flat) when I lock the door. I'm still trying to figure out how do I pull it up with out destroying it and spend another dollar...

I just use pliers to pull them out. Also, my dealer gave the door pins to me for free. They are like keychains, you can get them for free if you ask nicely.
