I am thinking to buy a set of OBX header for my car. Did you use the stock cats or you changed it with one comes with OBX headers? Mine is M271 engine which is 1.8L kompressor and the package comes with a high flow resonator pipe to change the factory cat. I am wondering if it will throw codes from the O2 sensor..

So basically these headers are connected with my stock cats. The bad thing about that is that my cats are the lowest point of the car. Performance is great but WILL DEF need a tune cause my car isn't running that well -_-''
i'm using same piping from factory and took all the resonators and etc.

Hope you like pics
Nice set up! I will definitely install for my car too. Btw, still need the follow up on the performance, how much gains did you get by headers itself? Does yours come with it a high flow resonator pipe replacement (to change the stock cats)? And does it throw codes for any reasons ? Thx

No codes were thrown and did not come with any high flow resonator pipes. It was just a header. I deleted my resonators and it is still connected to the factory cats (i'm planning to have that removed as well sometime soon). As for performance, the car has more UMF* when you WOT. I also got it tuned and I think i should be close or a little more than the C300, not super sure since I haven't really raced one .
anyways, my car sounds throaty and sexy =)

I do have some cabin drone from my muffler. It's not outrageously loud to the point where I do not feel comfortable but sometimes here and their when i want some quiet i get a little annoyed. But I just listen to my music pretty loud and I barely notice.

Oh i see. I bought mine for M271 engine type and it comes with a high flow resonator replacement for the stock cats. I haven't installed it yet, pretty soon. I am planning to do some ECU tune too after that to gain some more power. I believe it will gain quite much by removing the cats and flashing the ECU. You should definitely remove your cats too! Give me some follow up after removing your cats..I'll let you know after done with mine.

Yeah, Valloton. Don't keep us in the dark. Let us know how it all goes together. I'm sure there's several of us who would like to know how it works on the M271!

Hi guys,

I just bought an OBX header from ebay last week. As soon as the item is delivered, I ask the nearest muffler shop to install it for me. Now, I am having a problem because they told me that the header wouldn't fit into my engine because the hole pattern is different. Here is the link for the item: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ht_1355wt_1165
All the item descriptions is right, and it is made for my car. I have C230 '05 kompressor with M271 engine type. Anybody having same issue as mine here? I just contact the seller asking about the wrong item they shipped, but I still didn't get any answer from them. Any helps?

Hi Valloton,
Thanks for the feedback - sorry it's bad so far... The link to the item is no longer valid. I did a search for "obx m271 header" and got a bunch of hits and only some of them are for C230s. I hope the guy got mixed up and sent you the wrong one and will straighten it out for you.

Keep us posted.

I think this is another link of the item I bought : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MB-W2...ht_1355wt_1165
Can you share me the link the one you found?

Thanks

Here:
My search results are here:
http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_...bx+m271+header
All but the first one seem to fit our '05 C230K.
There seem to be two versions. One for the older C230K and the other for newer C230K, CLK200K, SLK200K, and E200K so there is a possibility of a mix up, but if the problem was that it wouldn't mount on your head, that would be different. I'm a little surprised that one set would fit so many applications, but then I'm not that familiar with those other cars.

I think I bought the right one, but I'm pretty surprised too that it couldn't fit into the head of my engine. How do you know if there is two different versions of the header, one for the newer one and the other one for the older version? Yea, its waste my money to let the shop take it out my stock header and the new one wouldn't fit onto it.....

That really suques! I hope the guy will make it right for you. It's still expensive to find out it's screwed up which is surprising since the V6 guys seem to have good experiences.

The applications listed for this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-E...item2c5e7310c8
are a bunch of 2001 and 2002 cars and the applications for this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-E...item2c5e7310c8
list, among others , '01 -'07 C230. What I just noticed is that the first one lists '01 C230 and the second one does, too! Hmm...

Anyway, the exhaust manifold bolt pattern would very likely be the same for all years of the 1.8L K engine so there is more wrong than you got the wrong year.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

So I have attached some pictures of the new header with new gasket on it. The package didn't come with a new gasket. I need to buy it separately.
Here is the link of my previous post: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ml#post4806195
Look at post #11..
If you see my red arrows, it's where I have the problem right now. The last two tubes didn't fit properly to the gasket where it suppose to be.
And another thing is all the tubes (the green arrows) also don't fit properly to the gasket.
I don't know if it's the mistakes when they welded it or this header is made for a different type of engine..
Still no luck till now, have been waiting from the seller to contact me back about this..

And they look so pretty!!!

That really suques! They really don't fit. You could do something with the bolt holes but you'd want the tubes to line up to the gasket a lot better than that! You really need to get your money back or give him another crack at it - at his expense...

Yea the header looks nice, but too bad it doesn't fit. I am trying to return this one and let the seller exchange with the correct one if he has it. I went to a welding shop today and ask them to repair the off positions on it, but its too risky since its a new header and they will probably charge me a lot of money to do that..Still hoping for a miracle! haha

Hey guys quick question so I recently purchased a set of kleeman headers for my c230 kompressor and I am just wondering how much of a pain it is to install and if this is installed would it throw any lights or code due to the fact that it will be catless thanks guys

Uhh yes. You will need to get a device that goes into the bung hole that tells the ecu that your gas/air mix is a ok so u don't get a cel. They are all over the internet. Google trick 02 sensor. That resonator is empty so yes you will get a cel.

Or get an ecu tune which should get rid of the cel. I think it may go away on its own eventually if you reset adaptations and let it learn the new mix.
